I bought them at commandos in Benning. I thought they were amazing. Light wieght, dry quickly and like wearing nike 5.0 running shoes. Super legit.

I have a pair. They are pretty awesome, I just dont like jumping them because of the thin soles or rucking with them, so I tend to mostly just wear the t8s

Before they changed the damn regs, and made it so base security had to wear the super ****ing thick "aqua-fladge", I used to rock some Altama EXOspeed boots with my jungle BDUs.



It was like wearing sneakers, plus it get ****ing hot down here in the swamp and these bastards breathe like no one's business. I also wore then when I had to wear the gay *** utilities.



Like I said, sneakers with a zipper on the side.

For socks... I wore white New Balance synthetic blow the ankle socks, even on runs.

For holsters (I wore a normal nylon "web belt" style duty belt) I want to say it was an Uncle Mike's cross-harness shoulder holster

Officer buddy of mine borrowed the shoulder holster, so I haven't seen it since about '05.

Mods I've done to uniforms: I've sewn the corners of the pockets in all my BDUs to the pant legs (they always pissed me off), but I left the stupid draw strings. At one point in time, I was considering altering the waists on the pants to get my exact size, because I hated the pull tabs... but they eventually replaced the pull tabs with elastic waistbands. I hated those worse.

Range Gear: I got this crazy thing after I saw it in a ar-15 mag. I don't remember where I got it or who makes it. I can't even find the receipt, but I remember some crazy old Japanese dude who wrote for the magazine designed it.


This is my bandoleer, with 3 fast-mags on it. Have yet to use it.

Garmont T8: Winnest (AMAZING BOOTS, GET DEM)
Rockey S2V: Winner (small ankle/calved people will have trouble with top of boot) They are hot boots and fit weird, but when broken in are awesome.
Nike Boots: Shelving mine till later.


Nike explanation: Only time I've heard these are good is in Patrolling Ops and FL Phase Ranger School. They are light as ****, dry out and feel great.

-No ankle support
-No foot support/padding (Even SOLE rigid soles only make them tolerable)
-Rope climbs are nearly impossible due to lack of rubber/tread
-Blow out quickly

I would say that they do have sole support cause they are made around a running shoe platfrom. Your right about the ankle support there is none. I did not blow out my pair and cant speak for others but I thought they were pretty rugged. They are super comfy and super light. They are great ESP for FL phase. They are the best though just to let your feet rest and re cop after long patrols and your resting for the night at Ranger school.

The T8 are all around badass and you cant beat the lifetime replacment Garmont has. Ive used it 2 times no questions asked.

there is a lot to be said for having two pairs of the same boots and rotating them every day (on deployment)

@ the Nike comment. They are "made for ranger school." IMO. I don't see any practical application for them outside of training where you want light boots. Also, running is fine in them - rucking hardball, not so much (I have low arches...so my opinion may be different on the support if you have higher arches)

**** Nike boots. Just because they don't come in wider sizes. But don't climb rope with them. Two people totally ruined them when we did pt and had to do rope climbs. The soles just burned/tore away when coming down on the rope. One guy it was his first time wearing them. ****ty.

Anyone try the new Rocky shoes that are like the Nikes? I wanted to get a pair, but again, no wide sizes.
