Down in here South Carolina it's fairly difficult to do any star trails during the summer and NOT get fireflys in the photo. They can be kind of bothersome if its not what you're going for

Chris, I dig your work a ton! I've been posting here for over 2 years, and have not seen any lighting painting that has completely blown me away yet. Yours doesn't blow me away, but it's pretty darn good. keep on shooting, I hope to see some more star trails and long exposure stuff from you soon!

Wow Awesome hockey Shots Skipperdawg!

So recently I have been inspired to try my hand at motion timelapses. Instead of spending a ton of money on a slider I decided to build my own from scratch. I just recently finished it so I wanted to share a picture of it with you guys.

I plan on testing it out later this week at sunset

Thanks guys! Also I forgot to mention that it is also motorized, the camera dolly/carriage is on a pulley system. The motor I used was a simple helicopter continuous servo and the whole system is controlled by a DSLR intervalometer so that I can sync up my camera with the slider.

Would you be willing to go into any details on how you interfaced with the intervalometer?

I actually just followed this simple tutorial from DIYphotography.net (the link provides you with all the information you need to know including how to control the direction and speed of the servo and how to power it)
