He tackled a usc player, so wouldn't it be usc player vs ref?

I would consider that assault.. sure it was in a football game but the ref did it, i think thats what it would be if a fan hit them..

i didn't mean it was lsu vs. a referee of USC. I meant it was a referee of the LSU vs. USC game.

why wouldn't it be? The ref had no reason to hit the quarterback and so wasn't legally allowed to tackle him..

they've already ruled that he was trying to get out of the way. neither coach seemed worried about it at all. garcia was probably going to get tackled anyway, and usc ended up scoring a TD there anyway. no big deal. although it did give me a little lol.

I remember seeing that when I was watching it live and it looked like the ref was just trying to get away from him. From this angle though you can see him getting ready to hit him and even moving into his path.

so you're saying that if you were watching baseball and the umpire or a field ref hit a player it wouldn't be assault..

ya it was pretty messed up the ref did that but Lsu still handled em anyway. either way a ref is considered a player on the field so idk what would happen
