SAR12 - new bolt action paintball marker

From the guys at ProPB:

Today we received a photograph and video link to a new paintball gun that will be unveiled shortly. The new paintball gun is known officially as the SAR12.

Here is a photo the SAR12 paintball gun, exclusive to ProPaintball:

New Paintball Gun: SAR12 Sniper
We do know that prototypes of this new paintball gun exist (as seen above). Further, the company producing these paintball guns is known as CARMATECH Engineering. The magazine is removable, the stock is adjustable, and we anticipate that FIRST STRIKE Paintball Rounds will be used for enhanced range and accuracy.

A bit of google research pulled up this gem of a video;

Holy crap that's awesome! That could very well be a game changer for scenario play. I can't imagine why it has taken this long to come up with this.

that looks really well designed. probably going to be VERY costly due to low production volume though.

Whole powertube assembly is 1 whole unit. Guessing the bolt lever would more or less act like a mechanical spool valve. As you would be opening up the can when opening breach, then when u close it's sealing off the air while markers at rest/closed position. Just my guess.

I wouldn't play with this marker with anything less than FS rounds. There would be little point otherwise IMHO.

Some fields are concerned that FS rounds will damage mask lenses and they hurt like hell if you engage someone less than 50 feet away. FS rounds are more aerodynamic and don't lose their speed as fast as regular paintballs do. I have barrel fed first strike rounds with my Geo and made some pretty long shots with 'em.

Fields could make mandatory lower FPS limits for FS guns. A FS round shooting 250-260 fps will still travel further than a regular paintball and not leave a huge bruise on impact.

I would SO put a 3X crossbow scope on that thing and make a ghillie suit.

Im more or less looking for something unique and that I can use for our monthly open play rec day. It consists mostly of rental users and first timers. It sucks going out with my high ends, and everyone see me with 2k worth of gear on and either fearing me ,or wanting me to play for them. Something like this would make me stand out less, and still manage to have alot of fun using it.

Im aware of what they are, but I hadn't heard that some fields are concerned about them damaging lenses. My experience with them has been that they are made of the same material as regular paintballs with a tail, to encourage better flight tracking. I just don't see why this ball traveling at 285 (at point of impact) FPS is supposed to do more damage to a lens than a standard one traveling 285 FPS(at point of impact)

Also didn't think about FPO.

Regular paintballs aren't traveling 285 FPS at point of impact though. His point was that FS rounds retain velocity better at range than standard paintballs.
