not sure what the rule is concerning tagging back up....i saw some people get pulled after they tried to tag back up and i saw some allowed to stay...there has also been a conversation or two about it in other posts...will someone plz clarify the rule as to whether or not u can "tag back up" or not?
Basically here is how it breaks down. To be an active player you must
A) Have tagged up within the last 30 seconds PRIOR to the horn blowing. so it doesnt matter how close or far away you are, if you dont tag up at any point in that 30 seconds and the horn blows, your eliminated (or are just never active)
B) if you did tag up within that thirty seconds and false start, you can retag after the horn blows, if you never i)fire your gun ii) pointed the gun down field iii) were shot by a paintball iv) ran out of bounds
As far as I remember it doesnt matter how far you "false start" from the dead box, if you can get back and not get shot and tag up without breaking anything in part B) you are an active player.

This is right. Before the d4 event started at CHF all the refs joked about how a kid could run to the snake, tag up and still be good. The rule book should be put into l337 $pe@k so it can be easily interpreted on the internet.
it all sounded good to me nathan, but i've always been told you only get 5ft to tag up or you're eliminated. i have been told this at an event
i was there when they told us that! my question now is this...and sound dumb but here it goes. how do you run down field and NOT point you gun down field. when you run do you hold your gun down? at some point you gun is pointed down field because you are running down field unless you are running to a cornner bunker. now comes the part where is the gun fired or not? i get the 30 second tag thing and not being shot along with staying in bounds but to say you can run to a faword bunker without your gun ever pointing down field at all seems crazy. going to d1 or the snake, at some point your gun is pointed somewhere down field. this is a rule that needs to be cut and dry and all of it is but this part! it may be a gun to the shoulder thing or something like that. feedback is welcome.....lol

Yeah thats where my confusion comes in too. And I heard the 5ft thing was a rule too. Seems like a reasonable distance. I just wanna know how they call it in the PSP. Hopefully Darrin can clarify this before next season for his league.
There isn't a set distance because i mean, im a tall dude, 5 ft would be like one step, i mean if i stretch out I can be about 5 ft off box with barrel barely touching... plus then refs would need a tape measure out there and would have to be like, "now was he 4'11" off the gate or 5'1" off the gate. you can run off the gate and not point the gun down field...this is obvious if you do, running to a corner or even D1 you never are pointing the gun at an opponent in a normal "run" but towards the tape. hope this clears up some things.

Ok from Tim the top PSP Ref. PSP as a general unwritten rule instruct refs to pull a player that has taken more than a couple of steps advancing down field as if an active player if his marker is not touching the start station with gun below the waist when the buzzer sounds.
We are looking at ways to clarify this rule for the future. We are aware it is not written that way.

bottom pic is slideing and gun is pointed down field, however his finger is not on the trigger! way to much gray in this rule! i dont really care, i just want it called the same all the time. GREAT PICS though!!!

how about a box 5 feet around the start station (lined out with white paint)....if u step onto the white line or beyond it u r eliminated.....also, pointing the marker "down field" is to arbitrary...y not simply state if the marker is fired???? lastly i dont understand why stepping out of bounds is even in there...its a seperate issue...lets say they do commit a false start, if they step out of bounds its a seperate infraction which all together eliminates the player
i personally think we should just say screw it and pull all 10 players on field at the buzzer every game...this way everyone can *****...plus games would go faster
