you're right. I'd much rather have my marker ruined, than have a slight bruise, or scrape.

My, how I have derailed this thread. sorry folks.

oh man, this thread delivers. I just don't understand how people do that to their guns, why it happens so often and what kind of injuries a bent frame actually prevents?

I don't think it happens very often, there's just a handful of pictures out there that people see and think the worst. What doesnt' help is that PE played them off as a "safety feature". I've taken tons of bad dives and i've never injured myself, nor my marker. I've never used a PE marker though.

happens to the Rail as well

I've seen it happen once in person (maybe twice), read about it online and heard a few stories at the various fields I've played at... I get that if the frame bends it absorbs some of the impact, but I still don't get how this prevents injury... anyways your post made me laugh so its all good.

Has anyone ever hopper come off while running to the 50? Like running really fast, and then you go to shoot and notice your hopper is back behind you?

a well tuned ego is not any louder than any other poppet marker and is no reason to not play snake.

You an use any marker for any position, but it's up to you if you actually like it or not.

Sorta. If my hopper gets hit OTB I will flip my collar lever and make it fall off though. If I can get away with it I will grab it and drag it across the ground wiping the paint off.

Does that count?

my friend bought one of the rails when they first came out and put the UL frame on it....lol speaking of "safety features", youd think dye would have realized putting such a sharp edge at the back of the snatch grip was a terrible idea, as he never managed to break his gun either but he did get the back of his hand laid open several times from the back of that grip frame digging in.

back on track. OP, sounds like you actually went the smart route and bought all the other stuff you need instead of blowing your budget on a gun. nothing wrong with going right for a high end. besides, a used ego 10 isnt much more than buying a mid end new, and since nothing in the real world is ever getting cheaper buying something that offers the most bang for your buck is a good idea. nor do i see any real reason to pay the full price for the latest and greatest since they arent that much of an improvement. just make sure to maintain it well and it should never give you any problems.

Personally I like the JT Proflex. Great breathing, customizable and cool looking

At most after every day of play. You could probably get by lubing it every few weeks. Or months. Just depends how much you play.

Jumping to a high-end marker is more of a financial commitment than anything. Once you become proficient with a marker you like, stick with it. Biggest differences from your A5 to Ego 10, you'll have to worry about batteries... and you cant blame your gun anymore.

Read the owner's manual for detail on maintenance.

Eflex's are very breathable.

How many high end markers have you shot? I started out building matrix's and to this day i prefer the spool valve. That being said i have a few egos in my bag and i loan them out when any of the guys gear goes down. Teams come and go so make sure you buy the gun that you can shoot the best.. not the one your "leader" shoots best.

+1 on the eflex

If you can get a good deal on an EGO10 go for it but I wouldn't rule out an Etek3. Its just an EGO10 missing the Zick2 and Cure3 bolt, the roller bearing trigger, the LCD board and the faster solenoid. Not the most essential items IMO. One thing to keep in mind is the barrel is way way overbored for the size of paint these days. You can get a different barrel back for $40 or a whole kit. Up to you.

You can get a Etek 3 LT for $300 now easy and often cheaper. So its something to think about.

of the list of guns you shot i personally would grab the clone or the victory for snake play. since you dive and I've have dove into pretty muddy stuff and gotten mud in my breech with my egos and now my vice. sure it is odd but believe me if it happens it will shoot terrible. plus as you team mate said egos are a little loud but nothing a good barrel can't quiet down.
