So whilst browsing PbN and finding my name being mentioned about a month ago in a thread I was fully unaware of, it struck me that a twitter/facebook style "@name" system that will bring up a drop-down of users and then alerts them as to when they were mentioned would make for a more pleasant end-user experience.

For example if I type @Drex17 it would autoformat to Drex17 and below his subscribed threads in the UserCP panel, list of "Threads you were mentioned in" could be displayed.

Just a thought for this ever improving site, thanks for taking the time to read it over!

Adding that feature requires a query of the database, creating a lot of extra overhead for PbN. I wouldn't get your hopes up. (At least this is my assumption)

Well it already autosuggests when you are typing out recipients in a PM, so I am assuming that part is already in the system.

do you really think people would always put a @ sign before typing a name? probably not, and this is NOT facebook or twitter
