Seeing old friends playing and new players brings back great memories. I have decided to come back to paintball. If I do something, I am going to do it to the best of my ability and always strive to help those around me reach their full potential.
My name is Rexie and I am the coach of Hawaii KND. The kids are all grown - looking for the next generation of Hawaii KND. Also looking for players for an adults team - Team 50 (Fifty).
This team is a "players team". No experience necessary - looking for players with a lot of heart and commitment.
If you are looking to be a part of something great - pm me or write here. First meeting will be on Saturday, July 30, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Pearl City Starbucks (across parking lot of Pearl City Walmart).
I had heard that Rexie Barnum was contemplating returning to the sport of paintball. His post above now confirms that. He was introduced to playing paintball at All-Star back in 2002. Even back then, using a mech Spyder, he exhibited a hunger and talent for the sport. His growth as a player was enhanced by the fact that during these years, the best of Hawaii's paintball teams, such as perennial powerhouse Hawaiian Homegrown, and other up and coming teams, set the bar incredibly high at All-Star. To "cut your teeth" with All-Star's tourney scene took more than a fast gun. It took full immersion into the complexities of paintball's learning curve. Many took on that challenge and made it. Rexie was one of those players. He would soon find himself playing NPPL events alongside others playing under the Hawaii flag with All-Star's banner in tow. Rexie's climb through the player ranks was facilitated by the fact that he was already a life student of discipline and commitment as a Ju Jitsu instructor for Gracie martial arts. Rexie would soon after form team "KND." Taking a group of happy go lucky misfits (who just happened to be a good part of the All-Star ref crew at that time), he taught and coached his team to excel not just on the play field, but, off the field as well. It was evident to some of us looking on that Rexie's high level of believe in yourself discipline was accompanied by a good measure of devotion and love for team and life.
As his good friend, I'm very happy to witness Rexie's return to my life. As a paintball player, I welcome his future contribution to Hawaii paintball. I encourage players, new and old, to support Rexie's new team. It's my hope that many of you try out. If you can't make his scheduled meeting, contact him through this website. It can only lead to good.
