I'm very stoked to see what you post.
I always love watching videos of other people skating and whatnot... Regardless of their abilities. Makes me happy. Longboarding is awesome.

So I get a 2012 Wolfshark very soon!! Probably within a week or two soon!!!!

Jumped on a basically new NJK suit a local was selling yesterday. Fits me nearly perfectly and it was an absolute steal. Got the chance to skate some mountain runs today with it and dangggggggggggg do custom tight fitting leathers make a difference

Sorry for the double post, But definitellllly let me know what you think of it after a few days/weeks of riding. After purchasing this ethos. I see myself sticking to bigger tub concave's/bigger wider topmounts because of my height an shoe size. Even though this things only 34" with a smaller wheelbase I ****ing love it.

The urathane probably pops off because of how insanely chattery they are.

Are topmount speedboards any faster than a double drop? Or is it more for maneuverability? Sorry if noob question, have not owned either.

Mostly maneuverability. Speed will depend way more on the rider's tuck than a board. Topmounts are more responsive due to the geometry of the board in relation to the trucks. They also have more grip assuming all things equal.

If you like the feeling of a double drop, or just drop decks in general, you can still set them up with grippy wheels to have cornering ability. I personally think a double-drop for dh is a bit much, but many people do use drop decks.

Edit: PB4L are you riding a Seacow or Seacalf? I just set up my Darby to the 26''wb instead of 28'' and want to try it out. My front foot will be right over the trucks now as opposed to just behind.

They have more control/maneuverability. No board is ever faster than another, but a topmount could make you faster on a technical course due to having more control.

I'm on a Sea Calf, although it looks like I'll be on a GMR Tucker within the week (getting flowed one by the company owner ). The calf wheelbase is 26.5" and I love it. I have it setup with a RB toestop so my foot sits over the the back set of front bolts and it feels unbelievably stable and responsive. Standing over the trucks is definitely the way to go.

Ok I moved my Darby's wb to 26'' and took a few "runs" on the small hill outside my house (we're talking 30mph tops). It felt ok but I realized I didn't know where to put my foot in relation to the new bolt holes, so I decided to make my own toe stop and see how it feels.

Disclaimer: This toe stop also trolls the paintball world, Bwing style

Hahahaha nice. I prefer to stand just over the back set of front mounting holes, with the toestop about 3/4 of the way from the front set to the back set.

Here's my new ride courtesy of the nice gentleman in charge of gmr/ronin

Ok, so here's my first impression of the LY Wolfshark:

First, my "specs"

6' 3"
~200lbs
Shoe size: 11
Previous boards: Arbir Koa Pin, BC Eel
This is my first topmount/freeride/dh board

My board's setup:
LY Wolfshark
Munkae Stealths (I forgot how many degrees)
SHR bushings (barrel on board side/cone on street side)
74mm 78a raceforms
5/16" Khiro risers (otherwise I would get wheelbite)
Reds Bearings w/ spacers
Stock jessup (sp?) grip tape

First impression:
Dear God!!!! This board is incredibly smooth!!! The mellow w concave hugs your feet when you tuck and feels just right. I tried it out on this one hill here in Tucson (~25-30mph) and I've never had so much fun going down that hill than with this board, granted I don't have much experience yet. All of my experienced friends reaffirmed what I essentially thought, though. The gas pedals also feel nice and comfy when you want ro pull off some standies.

The only downside I came across with this board is that I would get pretty bad wheel bite without the 5/16" riser. Although that could be because I'm not exactly a light guy. Also, I haven't tuned my setup with bushings, washers, etc. so I might be able to find an appropriate setup with lower risers and still not get wheel bite. Another thing to note is that Munkae trucks are infamous for wheel bite, according to my friends. Regardless, the ride felt amazing with those trucks. So yeah, I'll let you guys know more about it as I go on riding it if you'd like.

I fell in love with this board!
