the average age and length of careers have come down by alot for pro players.

just lets be generous and say its 50kper year for a 10 year pro career. $500,000 total income. we wont even put inflation into the equation to be even more generous.

- so from 22 to 32 you get that income then go to ZERO income from paintball, unless throughout your career you become an industry rep or something a-la Bwing. Imagine going into a fortune 500 company interviewing for a job to sustain your growing family and or needs. lets say 60-70k, and sitting down in the interview and explaining you have been playing pro paintball for the past 10 years as a career... now I know what you get from playing pro and it takes dedication and heart and all that...but imagine telling that to a divisional manager that has this notion in his head of you in the woods playing his version of PB.....

- It is very difficult to make a sustained living after pro PB from what I can tell (which is limited) but..., the steve's, matty, todd's, rich, Bwing, appear to be a small percentage that are able to continue to make the money they need from the industry after Pro.

-thats why most pro's still have day jobs. It just isn't enough in the long term.

-but it is a step in the right direction, and on a further note, I think it WILL help when they do start relegation in the pro brackets, making supply less then demand and rates will increase to get the top athletes... but thats another argument.

Almost all pro players have real jobs that bring in way more than what they get from playing paintball.

And the 50k number in the title is made up. It was put out by Social Paintball but even they pulled the number from the article.

Didn't the Ironmen offer Oliver Lang $100k as a signing bonus to play for them for a year?

I'm pretty sure teams are buying star players.

Its only natural, as a pro sport grows the teams get more money and as teams with more money try to outbid each other on pro players, then the pros get paid more.

Dye didn't release the figure but Ollie Lang said it was 6 figures each year plus benefits.

that 100k was because he had a job at Dye. People sometimes forget these guys travel every weekend they dont practice and do clinics all over the world. They are always working (The ones actually getting paid well).

Nobody is going to pay someone 50,000 to play paintball per year. Thats a lot of money, A LOT for just playing ball. Now I could understand with what Ollie was paid, but it wasn't simply to play paintball, it was to become a spokesperson and try to sell DYE equipment, an ambassador for DYE. So there was a return on the investment, plus it was from DYE, not a specific team. I also could see a player getting equipment, paint, travel expenses, etc taken care of to add up to 50,000 over the course of a year. But the state of paintball is no where near able to support individual teams with a bankroll of that amount for individual players just to simply play. They are doing other stuff, like working for DYE or Clinics around the world. 50,000 is enough to support yourself, without working. Though it may not be lavish and sitting in mansions, if managed correctly you can do it. People manage to support their babies too on 25,000 to 35,000. Ok end rant

I work At a county jail most cops fire fighters an emts get paid 35k just to start so living on 50k is deff possible hell I would play pro ball for 35k and quit this baby sitting job in a heart beat

Your joke dude. Bottom line don't take any advice or listen to a word this guy says none of its true. He couldn't even tell me the truth about his age lol. Sorry to troll on this guy just putting the warning out there. On subject of this topic I thought I heard that mouse got paid $80,000 to play for the team he's on now.. Could have been a rumor but if the sport keeps growing like it is then I def see this as being a job for professionals. These guys play 3-4 days a week constantly training and conditioning. And if we do start paying are pros this kind of money more people will want to make that kind of money and try play paintball professionally. It would get more attention the higher the pay is. Not everyone loves paintball but everyone loves money and if people see how hard these guys work and see that you can do this and it makes you want to try more income and people will come into the business.
