I've got an Eforce GTI, an R6 and a Pilot ACS. So... which do I like best?
For mechanical simplicity, lightness and compactness I love my R6.
I played with the Pilot set up with a 68/4500 and found mostly the tank is bulky. But I have to say that the Pilot works nice. But it's got a hairy sensitive trigger on it and it requires that you adapt to it. I like the PMI Eforce and EVO trigger better. The body of the Pilot is nice and light but again the trigger frame and grips are rather lumpy. Although this is truly and honestly only an issue when you're testing it. During "battle" you totally forget it and at that point it's fine. But the lump of the HPA tank stands out even during battle. The other thing that I sort of don't like about the Pilot is the longer spacing between the foregrip and the main grip. It makes the overall feel like you're holding a longer rifle. But that's just me. I traded my Tippy Custom 98 after one day of play for the reason that I felt awkward with a long gun.
The GTI Eforce seems like it'll be the best of both worlds. CO2 friendly so I can use an anti syphoned 12 or 20 oz tank for compactness plus a nice to use Etrigger and a compact R6 like short length. One that can fire singles with ease or rip off a stream of paint as fast as I can finger walk. (which ain't that fast...
) I have yet to play with mine so I can't go on further about it at this point. I've got mine set up with a slightly shorter ON-OFF ASA to shorten the back length. I've also set it up with the flush cocking bolt from an EVO so I can get closer to the back of it without it tapping on my mask.
Of the three all are trading or selling off fodder at this point except for the R6. It's slated to get a flush cocking bolt and new ASA similar to the GTI. It's also sporting a new 12 inch CP .685 barrel to deal with the smaller paint so common these days. It'll soon have a Dead_Body Inc custom delrin bolt and lightened hammer as well as a flush cocker pin so I can reduce the firing kick and get closer to the marker. Mine came without the plastic foregrip. I got one with a parts gun recently and tried it. The full length grip was too wobbly so I cut it down to 1/2 length and it feels solid and great now. The mechanical trigger was also modded with a set screw to eliminate the post firing trigger travel and it feels wonderfully tight and responsive now.
Of the three there's no doubt that my R6 would be the very last of the bunch to be traded or sold off. I love the lightness, small size and simplicity of it. And there's a magic about optimzing the blowback functions without a lot of add ons. It's hard to say where the GTI and Pilot fit but of the two I think the Pilot would go before the GTI. Mostly due to the lumpiness of the trigger frame on the Pilot. Although... I was able to fit a Piranha mech trigger frame to the Pilot and I have to admit that it felt pretty darn good. And given the ease of replacing the Pilot's feedneck with a clamping low rise style.... And the beat goes on....
