So many paintball players are so stereotypical, gotta dis on any gear thats not the most expensive or the most agg. "ohh that gun is not over a grand, it sucks, no way it can rip paint". What a poor attitude, and far from reality.

ive owned almost every gun you can think of, excluding viking and things of that nature that came before my time.
let me tell you right now SLs are over rated and over priced.
way to read me wrong.

I shoot a dm8 and love every second of it ( see sig ). I've had a BL and an Ego. I'm staying matrix.

SLs - overpriced? totally agree. Overrated? definitely not in comparison to an electra.

Thank you, so if I throw in a Empire React Pack (http://www.zephyrpaintball.com/product/PB-EMPR-HREACTPCAM25/Empire_React_Pack_25_ZN_Paintball_Harness__Camo.ht ml)

you think I could get anything better that is good for both woodsball and speedball? (I play mostly speedball but occasionally I woodsball)

For a little bit more money, I think you should get an upped ion. I have owned an upped ion before, it was my first gun, and my best friend owns a vibe. Very similar but yet have their differences. For instance, the Ion Xe has the bolt out back feature just like the vibe, and cleaning/maintenance on both markers is a breeze. Both are great, reliable, customizable markers, that suit both woodsball players and speedball players. The Ion has eyes, unlike the vibe does (out of the box), the ion has a little faster bps, the ion is a little heavier, and shooting an ion is very different compared to a vibe. The vibe has kind of a click to the trigger and makes a little beep as well, which my friend actually likes, but it's all personal preference.

But like I said I'd suggest an upped Ion Xe, that way you still have your BOB feature and still have a descent feel and idea on what your shooting because they are similar markers. I'm sure you can find an Ion Xe at your field but I would highly recommend looking around on the nation because they have some pretty descent markers selling for 90-120 dollars. Good luck!

Yeah my friend had a Ion but he upgraded it to a Ion XE and it's a pretty nice gun. Not a big fan of the original Ion though and the Ion XE is great but I'm not in the kind of position to be adding money or anything to the trade unless I'm adding video games and stuff that I don't want anymore.

Now I'm getting half a mind that it's not worth the trouble.

trading guns is all about personal prefrence.
they all shoot the same fps and bps, so what makes other markers more saught after than others?

the feel of the gun.

the feel of the gun.
yes, the feel of the gun. This can make or break a game in situations. Markers are tools we use to win games. You don't see harbor freight torque wrenches in any professional drag racer's toolbox for a reason. Just like an Ego, a Spyder can mark an opponent, but a good player will get eliminations faster with a smoother gun. The marker does not define the player.

on a side note:
My droid feels & shoots totally different from my ION XE. The bolt (& probably software) in the droid is much more responsive & I can get a higher rof with it in semi than any of my other markers. I have been shot by quite a few ions, as well as DMs, egos, marqs, rails, etc... so they get the job done, yes. I play better with my droid than any other marker I have used (practically every marker type). part of that is because of the confidence I have in the gun, the shape & feel, And part of it is because it performs flawlessly. My karni is a little harder to play with because it has more in the way when swapping hands.

I'm not saying everyone should go buy droids, (I don't want that) I am saying everyone should get something that is exactly what they want & keep it working flawlessly and be happy with it. if someone can shoot straighter...So what? If they can't shoot you it doesn't matter
If they can shoot more BPS....So? If they can't hit you then they're just wasting more money faster

I shouldn't need to state that a gun doesn't make a player better, we all know what kind of difference it makes. A fast, reliable, accurate gun only allows players to capitalize on others mistakes faster. Usually, reaction speed, awareness, strategy, and experience play an infinitely bigger role in how games end.

finally, someone explained that. I always wondered WTF a dodgy was for because everyone is always using them but I've never seen one until PBN.

sometimes people are just stating the obvious and others take offense & get riled up.

"Rips" really has no real definition, so you're both right. My phantom rips! Anybody who needs to shoot 17+bps really needs lessons though. We all have to get past this whole BPS envy & start challenging ourselves instead of each others markers.

I have seen dozens of the cheap pilots (red or blue fade) at the field I run & they blow. Usually it's user error, but they commonly shoot the cocking knob out the top of the gun & they aren't fast, break easy, & have no eyes.

I would really suggest you look into proto rails, minis, g3s, & older electros. Plan on adding monies. if you plan to keep playing it will be worth it.

Yeah my friend has the Spyder Pilot 08 with eyes but, once again, it just doesn't feel right and I despise it. Funny to because my friend envy's me for my vibe and he wants a vibe, but he is a 13 year old (and I'm 14) rich and spoiled kid that has his parents buy everything for him and he still believes that the marker makes the player. He looked at a Ego 10 and said it was just regular as if he knew everything about paintball and then shows me a Brass Eagle T-Storm and asks me if it's good and he should buy it.

I would really like a Ion XE since the cleaning and maintaining of the gun is the same as the Vibe so I'd be familiar with it. Heck I'll admit it, I'm a very lazy person and I don't like the risk of having a small screw lost and the gun not working or having to disarm the entire gun and risk breaking it just to lube it up.

Get a Spyder TLR they cost like 30$ (160$ when I got the sniper combo kit) all I did was just buy a old Spyder Pilot (ACS or new pilot either will work) and put that frame on my TLR an it works just fine.

look for a promaster. You may get one for your vibe, and they actually do "rip, mow faces, shoot money, etc", they are a bit heavier, but if you set them up well they are actually pretty smooth and fast. Not incredibley efficient (1300 of a 68) but your talking about a 100 dollar gun consistantly shooting 20+bps(yeah, its pointless but impressive for a 100 dollar bnib marker)... of course some people hate them...
