hey everyone, does anyone here have any recommendations for a rain cape? ive been looking around but i see many of them running for over $100.
does anyone have any cheaper suggestions?
i have my eye on the storm jacket, does anyone have any experience with those?

I have been using mine for over 3 years. Best $49 I ever spent.

They have an lens cover extension for real long lenses, but the stock 702 protects my Canon 7D and Canon 100-400 f/4.5-5.6 L

I would recommend a rain cover eye cup for it, however, as during humid weather, the eisenglass will fog up and you will not be able to see your settings or see through the stock eye cup.

Cut a small hole in the eisenglass just big enough to fit over the view finder (with the eye cup off). Slide the hole in the eisenglass over the viewfinder and the slide the rain cover eye cup into place. Viola, it's almost waterproof.

They make disposable plastic bags that are made for shooting in the rain. They have the same shape as the kata bags, but take up less room and you just throw them out afterwards.

and just to clarify, this wasnt being used for the rain specifically, mainly just to protect the camera just slightly from stray paintballs and cut down on mess should one happen to hit the camera

is there an opening on the bottom of the bag to put your hand through so you can zoom in and what not? ill be almost exclusively using this hand held, not on a tripod

Definitely, if you look at the bag, it has two hand holes on each side with zip cords which you can draw the cover down against your wrists / arms.

There is a zip cord and velcro for you to tighten it down against the front of the lens or hood.

I can't tell you how many paintballs hit my gear....countless. But not a spec of paint got to it.

Well....except the time I took a ball directly to the front of the lens. Not much you can do about that if you want to take paintball pictures...

Seriously a great quality cover. I don't shoot paintball anymore, but I throw the Kata 702 on the camera and head out into the snow or rain. It rocks.
