Haven't been into any of your threads in a while. When did you start going for more VW form and less function?

I haven't... Yet. I mean, i think i see what you're saying, with the whole smaller tire thing?

But there is function behind that. Part of why i want smaller tires is for looks but really i want a smaller outside diameter and i cant retain width while going with a shorter sidewall.

The smaller OD would be hugely beneficial for my current set up as the 3.31 final drive is huge and i want to go shorter. But smaller tires give me the benefit of also lowering the car itself putting the center of gravity lower. Stretching as much as i use to hate it... Has grown on me and also has its benefits of a stiffer sidewall and a wider track width. a 225 not stretch will not put as much rubber down as a stretched 225.

Now that i have explained my thoughts i personally am very fond of seeing the wide tires under my car and have had second thoughs of running smaller wheels and tires.

But i can promise you that 99% of the things i do to this car are for function.

Rear adjustable spring seats and 300# coilover springs. Feels good i think im going to raise the front up a tad and see if i can get the rear a tad lower. Its close to bump stops in the back so i think im going to take them out idk how much farther the axle can go before hitting the body of the car. And im not to sure how much of these tires i can tuck but i can always give it a shot now that i have adjustable seats.

I autocrossed today, had a ton of fun but the open diff is killing me!! The car has a lot of traction and changes direction quite willingly but putting the power down is like waiting for pigs to fly, its just not happening. I have changed my mind about the welded diff again. Im starting to look into ford 7.5's and 8.8 rear ends. An axle swap that already has an LSD is cheaper than getting an LSD. lol

You should chop the wagon and turn it into a truck.

Always wondered; what happens when you hit a pothole while turning?

I raised the front up today in hopes of putting more power down. Surprisingly... it looks a bit better. I figured it would look worse. Im considering lowering the rear a touch more i think i like where the front is now.

Exit speeds improved, turn in feels a bit slower.

Raised it up a little, handles a tad better at lower speeds. rear needs to come down more me thinks.

I wasnt going to say anything, but even though that picture would lead you to believe that a bump would cause the tire to come crashing into the fender. It does not.. They dont rub. At all actually, pulling into driveways or business entrances at a decent speed you would think it would smash into the fender. Its never happened and there are no signs of cuts gashes or scrapes on the tires. Nore is there any rubbing scrubbing on the fender...

if your suspension doesn't have that much travel, it isn't doing much to help your car handle well.

i think it's quite a stretch to say that your car has never rubbed, either you are the world's most careful driver or you aren't being quite honest here. it's pretty clear that you don't have enough of a gap to keep it from ever touching the fender.

.

I bet you could get some sick flaring for free if you swerved through some washboards. Not to say it isn't anything short of ****ing badass what you have done to that wagon.

Well, yah you're right. I guess i should say i have never heard or felt it rub, and its showing no signs, cuts, rubs, or whatever else might happen.
