Hired out for a job

I recently had someone come to me about taking pictures of their business for a website they are building. Its a local drug store, and I do know the owner. I've never done pictures like these, but I have shot a few weddings and some couples pictures, etc. He said to give him a price. What is fair?

Look online at pro photoshoots and what they do and compare it to what you're going to do. Things like equipment and photo editing, and overall time invested. I'd offer some percentage of that since you're not a professional (i don't think).

Just images for the website for a local drug store? Charge em $350. If the shoot lasts longer than 3 hours or they want the images for other uses like print, or advertisements, charge more.

I was going to say $100, but $350 sounds better.

my "friend" fee is about $75 per hour.. so you could go from there if you feel like it

Draw up a contract and protect yourself and your client.. but mostly yourself.

I would advise seeking a pre-written contract versus "writing up" your own.

Unless you have a strong understanding of legalese the last thing you want to have in court is some ad hoc piece of paper that won't stand up to a strong breeze.

There are quite a few options on the web for little or nothing at all, but be smart and protect yourself appropriately.
