Has anyone used the Barnes TSX bullet? I heard they were really good for hunting.

Ordered a box of them. ****ers are expensive. 25 for a box of 50. I usually pay 22 for a box of 100 Noslers which I thought were expensive.

I took my pup out for a skeet shoot a few months ago when he was maybe 2 months old and he had no problems. I took him out today at 6.5 months and he was scared as ****.

looks like I have a lot of work ahead of me to break him of being gunshy.

What kind of dog? My 12wk old GSP is doing great, besides possibly eating some staples today because my old lady didn't lock the kennel...
But assuming the dog doesn't die from staple consumption, I'm going to introduce her to quail either this week or next to get her prey drive up. As far as the gun breaking goes, I plan on having a buddy fire a .22 50-100yds away as I let her play with a bird, and gradually working in closer and louder guns. But I won't introduce gunfire to her for a couple months yet as I'd hate to make her scared of guns.

Picture is taken at my old lady's parent's house. They are ****ing hoarders.

Try waiting until she's eating or playing and stand about 20-30 yards away and fire a shotgun in the air. Then just keep doing that moving closer every time you do it. That's what I've heard to do anyway.

Personally, I think it's foolish to start with a shotgun that close. I'd stick with the .22lr at 50-100yd and gradually working closer method.

I should have also noted that the source wasn't a reliable one either lol.

But after a quick google, you're probably right. And then they move up to a shotgun after that. I also read that it might help to have a firearm around before you start shooting that way their first introduction of a firearm isn't with a bang/

Has anyone here ever used or owned a Savage Axis? My brother in law is looking for an entry level deer rifle and that seems to be something I see sold everywhere around here.

I have one in a .308 and couldn't be happier with it for the price.

It's no typo. That's what Si really said.

I have heard mixed reviews on the Savage Axis. Savage makes good guns and I know the Savage 111 model with the detachable box mag sells for around 375 with a cheap scope if that would be in his price range.

I have an axis in .308. I use reloads with hornady amax bullets and Remington brass. Gun shoots acceptable groups for hunting. Pencil profile barrel only allows for about 3 shots in semi succession before you new to pull the bolt and let it cool or your groups start to get large
