===Reason Krew V1: Insert witty thread title here===

Quite simply this is open to anyone who adheres to a reason based religion. The list includes but is not limited to:

Deism
Pantheism
Pandeism
Panentheism
Humanism
Satanism
Universalist Unitarianism
Any philosophy or cosmology which is the product of rational thought rather than faith in a holy text or proclamation.

If you are something else and are not sure if you qualify, go ahead and ask. Also, anyone else wanting to discuss these belief systems is welcome. If you want to toss up some quotes from famous reason based religious individuals, that's cool too.

One rule for members though. Please don't go out and try to get people to join. Let them ask on their own. If you want, toss a line in your sig.

Question: Reason based religion means what exactly. As a Christian I feel that I reason and have found the Bible to be true. Basically the question is, what qualifies as "reason"?

Sorry if this sounds offensive, it is not meant to be at all.

Not at all. Reason based religions adhere to the principle that "God" or divinity can only be revealed through reason and empiricism, not faith or divine revelation. That would pretty much preclude anything with a holy book.

So to reword it, it would be the worshipping of reason/logic/philosophy?

No it would be experiencing the divine through those things. But only through those, not through faith or divine revelation at all.

I wouldn't consider myself a part of this "religion", but is there a religion based on the idea that we live in a virtual reality?

Yeah, the ACTs suck. SAT's easier (For those of us who are more cognitive thinkers.)

From my experience, the ACTs test you on how much information you can spew out, and how fast. The SATs test more on cognitive ability.

I'm just generally not good at any test where you have to sit there for three or more hours taking it.

I took the ACT's
The only thing I remember that was spewing information was on the Math (why I did horrible on that part: 19)

The rest of it was pretty "thinkable". The english part was comprehension and the sciences were "if you do this what will happen". But that's from 6 years ago from what I remember. If you take the ACT a few times you usually get a better score everytime. I only took it once so I could get into college. They didn't necessarily care about your ACT score (overall). They cared about your recommendations/scores you had on their entrance exams.

I took it once a year or two ago, and again a few months ago, and I went up 3 points without preparing for it. I wish I would/could have taken it another time.

No, Deism and Pantheism/Pandeism/Panentheism are religions. They are reason based instead of faith based.
