But I like it. I'm kind of confused though. Did I read right that what would typically be an LPR or volumizer under the barrel, is actually part of the valve body?
Yes, the lpr is in the grip with the hpr and the thing under the barrel houses one end of the balanced valve. If you are familiar with the old evolve valves then you can get a pretty good idea of how it works. If not then they basically attach a spool to the back of the poppet via a shaft which counteracts the force on the back of the poppet by adding force to the face of the spool. If its like the evolve valves there will be a spring in the "volumizer" on the other side of the spool and a hole somewhere near the tip of the "volumizer" to allow the spool and poppet to move freely.

In theory. In practice, pressure balanced poppets aren't much smoother than a well engineered conventional poppet. There is a minimum amount of force that must be exerted to seal the valve regardless of design. By most accounts the creed isn't dramatically smoother than other similar markers. I'm not sure if you have shot an A1 with magno internals or an RX but they are stupid smooth (much smoother than egos).

In short, the marker will probably shoot wonderfully, but time will tell if it will actually prove to be smoother than the other latest gen poppets.

Pretty much. I dont know if it can get smoother than an RX, but by all accounts it should be. As long as the mass of moving internals is significantly less.

Anyway, YDNA made a shoebox imp with a balanced valve, and it was significantly smoother by his account.

of all the guns i owned, my ETek, and RX were the best shooting guns ive ever owned. Hopefully this new impulse will be the same.

Poppet markers have come along way since then. The RX and A1 fly are smoother than I ever thought possible for poppets. Even the new egos are getting to be pretty good. Curiously, reducing kick seems to involve a pretty convoluted series of factors including marker weight, cycle speed, valve design, reciprocating mass and the bumper system of the ram. Lowest LPR pressure or lowest reciprocating mass does not always mean lowest kick.

Enough tech talk, there is a video up on youtube of someone shooting the new imp. Looks like a good shooter to me. Appears to be very smooth in the video.

OK
the HPR and LPR are in the grip frame, and they are modular, correct
and they are both adjusted with an allen wrench thru a slit in the rear of the grip right?
and they both pop out for rebuilds?
is there anything between them like o-rings or gaskets?
what seals them to the air passages??

I imagine orings like pretty much every HPR/LPR on every gun out there. THey'll just be in a different position that's all.

Is the small part sticking out under the Impulse barrel a volume chamber?

--No. The fire valve housing is an integral part of the pressure balanced poppet valve. The tail end of the valve is exposed to outside air through a passage in the center of the housing. The difference in pressure between the gas inside the valve, and the outside atmosphere is what provides the balancing force for the valve.
My question is the outside atmosphere that provides the balancing force for the valve effected by alltitude and/or weather/tempature?

yes, but the same conditions are acting on both sides, thus cancelling each other

That's the theory behind a pressure balanced poppet. In practice you still need some amount of force to seal the valve. Interested to shoot this marker. I don't expect it to be smoother than my RX but if it's as smooth, I'll be stoked.

Going off of pretty much every other gun released by SP......$999.99

And I only say pretty much because I don't remember what the original shocker was.
