I went from a 3.7 to a 2.6. Schools look at that stuff but as long as an entire pledge class doesn't fail out it's really not a big deal. If your fraternity actually has legitimate pledging it is very rare for your grades to not drop. Also, if your grades are dropping it's your responsbility to talk to brothers and your PM and APM. Not everyone in a frat is an idiot; I had tutor sessions with brothers and they were all willing to help out. It's just that in the end sleep deprivation, scavenger hunts, tasks, getting called out, and having fun takes away a huge chunk of time.

After I was done pledging I had a 1.7 GPA, and ive been working hard for 3 years to get it to around a 3.0 again. Then again my pledgeship was the full semester and was a lot of hard work

If you go to an easy school and are in all lower level classes it's easy to rock a high GPA. Also not all fraternities are created equal, and it starts with the pledging.

its all about the work ethic and balance, i was able to squeeze out a 4.0 during pledge semester and have maintained it ever since; it meant i had to sacrifice time with my gf, sleep, everything else basically but i knew there is only one pledge semester in any brother's college career and it would all be worth it, which it has been a million times over

Agree. I went to Purdue my freshman year, and I would have never joined a fraternity up there, my grades would have suffered too much, and that would not be worth it for me.

My smaller school is much more laxed on the greek system, and I love it.

. I only wish my chapter would grab these kinds of accomplishments on our campus. Hopefully soon

No, this is an accomplishment for all chapters. We had the highest recruitment rate as a fraternity

We have a ridiculous number of chapters on campus, 28 to be exact.
Also, 4 Sororities, giving you a little insight on the ratio. Gotta love engineering schools.

And mike45thab, I have 320,493 brothers and friends
What's up brother? We have 49 fraternities here only about 20 are relevant though. Everyone should migrate over to the greek thread in OSST. It gets a lot more traffic than this does.
