It couldn't hurt to do 3 man figure each team has 6 guys so you just doubled your teams therefore more games and more fun. Just a thought though

Not trying to be a dick here, so don't take what I'm saying to be condescending.
If you're just trying to promote the sport, than why not just open the field instead of trying to get a tournament organized, let alone a series?

Thats fine I don't think your dick the reason i want to run a tournament series is for the more serious players to play it as well as new people to the sport. I wanna promote it in the sense that kids go to this place to play woodsball and will see whats going on with these tournaments and spark a interest in playing that style. I personally own the air ball field being used and it will be available for play on weekends besdies just what im trying to get to together. Jut in my opinion playing tourneys and having that experience of actually winning some thing with your team and being competitive is way more fun, so if we can do it 4 times a summer then why not? I fully expect there to be teams there who are good by no means am i trying to say this is a novice only tourney.

He is trying to get more people involved in the sport so I would imagine you being more than welcome.

If there were "plenty" of teams, why did they not play the AA 5mans? Which had the highest prize payouts IN THE WORLD?
Why did the NLPL fold?
Why did the NPUCTS end?
What happened to the MWPPA?
How about the MNXPL?
These were all 5man series that struggled to reach 10 teams an event per division. You can do the math for yourself, look at the registered players in each division of an AA series events over the last 3 years. Take that number, divide by 5. Nope. Not enough. And we draw some of the best numbers in a six state region.
Since focusing on 3 and 4 man events, we (AA) have been able to host tournaments with great turnouts and awesome prize packages. In an area with a relatively small player base, 5 man just doesn't work.
But, what would I know. Not like I've run 60+ events throughout MN, ND, WI over the last 11 years.....

As fun as 5 man would be I could never see it drawing enough teams. AA pretty much has the formula down.

not arguing with you i just wanted to know, i guess i dont understand why most the teams playing at AA wouldnt go to 5mans when the usually have more than 1 line.

In my opinion NPUC died due to lack of interest, mainly because prizes sucked, i played in one of its last years and 1st place for novice was a pair of XSV pants, sucks but true.
anyways I moved up to Fargo from Sioux Falls about 8 months ago or so and I would love to get back into Tournament paintball... I will be keeping an eye out

Thats the exact reason.
Not every player on every team can play any event on any weekend.
3 man GUARANTEES that each team can field a line (or even 2). 3 man is event "insurance". We won't have to cancel due to lack of registration. We can handle all the logistics and have a great turnout with awesome prizes at a reasonable price.
We learned this all the hard way after trying to keep 5man alive in the region for 4 years, from 2007 to 2010 we ran 5man series to inconsistent results. Since switching our focus to 3 and 4man, we have seen nothing but positive results.
There may come the time that the TWIN CITIES with a player base 20x greater than all of ND can support a 5man series but not yet.

We will be running a 3 man tournaments with roster up to 5 and we will have more details on prizes etc on monday night. Feel free to post the next couple days what prizes people would like, but also be aware this is not a huge event yet so prizes need to reasonable.

Another pro tip: run a trophy race. New players do not need prizes. They need to be exposed to competition ball and how fun it can be.
Having it be a trophy race event keeps cost down and leaves sandbaggers and the need for the APPA out of it.
Have nominal prizes (or free paint) for a Sportsmanship award.
I just outlined a successful low cost event in less than 100 words. Heed my advice and you can do this the right way, or rush in and blow your load and end up in the red. Either way, good luck and it would be cool to see the competition scene back in ND. Believe it or not, but not even 10 years ago there were 3 teams playing PSP/NPPL out of ND!

I think this will be good for the sport around here. I live in Bismarck and havnt been in the paintball scene for a couple years mostly due to nowhere to play but i will gladly try gathering a couple people for the tournaments!

I love winning pb apparel like jersey's and little things this place is no where near the player status to run anything with big prizes but who knows what will happen on good attendance will bring for coming up events!
darkice- good to hear hope you find some people for our 3 man tourny's
Oh yea im maxL assistant/ secretary so pm me if need any info or questions you may have in the future and hope to here some more about what people would like to see for prizes!

please tell me that these events are gonna be on weekends. weekdays, you would not see anyone farther than 20 miles to come and play. the VP Superfriends are pumped for the drive, but only if it happens on weekends. We'll commit to every tourney you have.
