Sound advice for sure. One tip you may wish to add is the write speeds of the card are also helpful. The faster the write speed, the faster you can get back to shooting if you just took an awesome burst shot, etc. I enjoyed the read, was worthy information!

I went with the Canon T5i personally and it has done very well

Thanks for the kind words. I did put a little bit in there about card speed:

Are you saying I should elaborate more on that in the article?

Yes. I saw that, but it to a new person into photography, they may have the eh? look on their face reading that. Having an example of a 30mb card vs a 90mb card, etc and a general break down of the advantages/disadvantages of each, might make it easier for someone new to fully understand the concept of that.

I hope I explained that right? It's late, I've been up since 7am so I'm slightly delirious.. ha!

You're very welcome, and thank you for putting that together.

And the glass section is true.. Papa B.. the one lens im looking at is 2500$ . Be prepared to shell out some hefty cash if you want the sharpest of sharp images.

I'm currently saving for a 300 2.8 non IS. Kinda hard being a late teen and only making $1,400/month after taxes. Then gas, rent, food, entertainment(extras basically)

But in the end it's worth it. Everyone I've talked to loves/ loved their 300 2.8 whether they had the IS or non IS model.

I have a T3i, looking for some suggestions for a good lens around $500-$600. Currently have the 18-55 and a 55-250 already and open to any realistic suggestions.

70-200 f/4L non-IS. Pretty much the only sports lens you're going to get in that price range that isn't rubbish. Avoid the superzooms - the more a lens does zoom-wise, the less the overall quality will be there. Don't waste your money on the 24-105L either. The 24-70L V1 is a lot better of a lens for not much more money.

I've been looking at the 1d IIn lately to complement my 6d. What do you guys think about this? the 1d would be replacing my 60d, which has basically been rendered useless by the 6d.

Would the 1d IIn be good enough, with respect to image quality, to shoot paintball? The bump in FPS is pretty nice, which is another reason i'm considering it.

7D or a 1D Mark III would be a better choice IMO.

Yeah I'd go 7d, wait for the II to come out and find one cheaper. Might have to do that myself.

found a 1D Mark III for a good price. AF issue was already checked out by Canon in 2012 and was good to go. Looking forward to seeing how it shoots.

I am about to upgrade my 30D to either a 6D or 7D for newer features, but mainly video capability. I've done some research, but I still feel split and would like to actually hear from people rather than read reviews.

I'm drawn to the 6D for the full frame and benefits that come along with it (obviously) but I like the 7D's external buttons rather than menus and faster fps along with the weighted feel.

GO!

I've got a couple of local photographer friends with the 6D and they both love it. Personally, I'd go with that - full frame is where it's at.

Full frame is nice for that extra light sensitivity but not so much for the increased depth of field when trying to manual focus anything moving. I don't know how the 6D's AF stacks up but I miss my 7D as soon as I have to use a 5D2 for stills in low light -__-

Full Frame FTW, but I personally went with the 7D. This weekend was the first event I got to use the 7D with and it was great. Sadly the lighting sucked so I was forced into a high ISO all day

The 7D seems very solid and rugged which is handy for paintball for sure!

It's important to think about the 1.6x crop factor and its relationship to your current equipment as well. 200mm on the 7d is more like 300mm whereas the 6d will give you a true 200mm. You may find yourself missing that extra reach depending on what you shoot if you go full frame. Also, some lenses are designed solely for crop sensors.

Both take great pictures and video so it really depends on what matches your current needs. I'd say 6d just because you'll probably want to move to full frame eventually.

I have a 7D. While I give up what I feel to be a lot in low light I would lose what I enjoy more for sports and that is frame rate. The 6D for me would be a much slower camera though providing all the benefits of full frame. All depends on what is more important.

I am not sure what you mean by external buttons between the 6D/7D. At a glance the 6D has all the buttons I think you'd expect from a higher end Canon. They are arranged differently but all there, save for the joystick that isn't necessarily needed. Perhaps someone with more time on the 6D can chime in there.

If video is a main priority I would suspect that the 6D offers more, I have not used video on my 7D aside from saying "hey, I made a video". The 70D seems to be better for video yet, just keep that in mind. I would think that the 70D may be a better choice over the 7D if going crop, especially still offering 7fps.

Bryan at The-Digital-Picture does solid reviews, as a Canon owner. They are best used for learning about Canon stuff rather than getting him to say something bad but the guy knows his **** when it comes to the Canon line so in this case I'd take it as almost gospel. Check this out.

It's a tough decision and I think you will lose something you will want with either selection.
