4.07 Player Rankings
All player rankings are determined by the players status as of January 01st of the current yearʼs season whether they have previously played the NPPL series or any other National or International series.
(1) A “Pro Player” is a player that has been on the roster of an NPPL or other National or International Professional Team in the past 10 years,
or a or International Professional Semi-Pro team in the past 10 years.

(2) A “D1 Player”. Anyone who has played or has been on the roster of a D1 Team in two D1 Tournaments or has been on the roster of a National D2 series championship team.

4.08 Changes to Player Status. Player status is based on playing history dating back to the
2003. Any player may request reclassification. Any Pro player can be reclassified down 1 division (with approval from the league); the player cannot play Division 2 at anytime. A $50 USD fee will apply to all applications. (Regardless of the outcome of the decision), by visiting www.nationalpaintballplayers.com <http://www.nationalpaintballplayers.com>. Playerʼs who think they have been unfairly ranked in a National paintball series other than the NPPL may apply for re-classification for no charge; a $50.00 deposit must be paid at the time of application. The fee will be refunded no matter what the outcome.

Simmer Down

We are back to PBNaton after a couple year break. It has given us time to mature and learn. Our two cents...

What qualifies us to give our two cents - We played D2 this past weekend in HB. We took 3rd. We lost a Prelim game to CP Raiders.

So much stuff has been mentioned above that it's hard to know where to start.

The CP Raiders were a D2 team last year, under the name Marine Team 1. They were a D2 team coming in this season. Bottom line, they are a VERY GOOD D2 team. Peter R. (AKA RAT) hasn't played Pro in years. He played D2 in NPPL in 2010 and in 2011. So why pick on him now? I think it is a bit of sour grapes from someone who did not make it to the podium unfortunately. And we feel for you. Rewind to us Big Time in 2009. And some in 2010. And maybe even a little in 2011 :-) Like we said above, we've had time to mature and learn.

What is the #1 thing we've learned. "Don't wish it were easier, wish you were better."

We barely lost to the CP Raiders in the Prelims with under 30 seconds left on the clock. We still went to the Quarters with a #5 seed.

We played great, but the Raiders played better. And Arsenal Kidz played even better yet. We will continue to get better and better and someday soon it could be us at #1 and them at #3. Right now we are trying to figure out how to get the money to get to Chicago so we'll have nother crack at them both.

What can't be argued is both of those teams are highly skilled and highly organized competitors. And both of them are full of great guys. There are lessons to be learned from how they won and lost their games.

We started playing in the NPPL in 2009 in D4. We've worked our way up. Last year in HB in D2 we went 2-6. Can you say ouch? But we kept working. We kept learning. We kept drilling. We kept playing. In Vegas last year we did better and went 4-4 but missed the cut with the #9 seed. Know what we did? We kept working. We kept learning. We kept drilling. We kept playing. This year we got to Sunday and even more. But it wasn't easy.

"Everyone wants to shine, but nobody wants to grind."

How many other D2 teams had a team member filming every single D2 game on Friday to prepare for Saturday and filming every game on Saturday to prepare for Sunday? We did.

How many other D2 teams spent 3-4 hours Friday night and 3-4 hours Saturday night watching film to break down the games of other teams to be better prepared for whoever they faced? We did.

Was it fun? NO WAY JOSE

Did it help? Heck yeah

Am I giving away some secret here? No

Everyone knows about how the Russians film to prepare. So why doesn't everyone go through all the effort to film? That's the easy pasrt by the way. So why doesn't everyone go through all the effort and spend hours and hours looking at boring game footage at night instead hanging out and partying? Wouldn't it give the team who did an advantage?

"Everyone wants to shine, but nobody wants to grind."

"Don't wish it were easier, wish you were better."

On a side note about a few other things mentioned in the last few days, Shawn (not Shaun) Walker doesn't get $100,000 to fund ANY team, Marines or Raiders. That's crazy talk.

And if you had any idea how much debt he's accumulated to build the incredible fields he's been "GIVEN" you'd flip. Seven figures. $?,???,???.00 How's that "GIVEN"?

Do we consider Shawn Walker a friend? Yes

Do we still treat him as the enemy on the field? Yes. It doesn't mean we can't be friends off the field.

Do we support the NPPL as often as we can? Yes

Do we think the NPPL has it all right? No

Is the Ranking system perfect? No.

Is Chris from the APPA chiming in to build his own business since the NPPL won't pay him? Probably. Can't let you slide on that one Chris ;-)

Is the NPPL always working to make it better? Yes.

Was this year better than last year? Yes

Will next year be better than this year? Probably

"Don't wish it were easier, wish you were better."

"Everyone wants to shine, but nobody wants to grind."

So there you have it. Our two cents. Take it how you will. Remember that paintball is a small world.

Don't make enemies. Don't burn bridges. Don't complain. Work to make it better. Good advice once given to us, not only in paintball, but in life.

Next time you see a really small 12 year old on the field with his mohawk up high, say hey. That's me. Sawyer Smith. #77. Max'd Kidz. D2 Player. GROW PAINTBALL!!!

Here is something we posted on ProPaintball a few minutes ago...

Soooooooooo cool to see Max’d Kidz on the D2 podium list. The competition was NUTS! Congrats to Arsenal Kidz on winning the Division (even though they beat us in the Semi-Finals in Game 3 to knock us out of contention dang it). They were a great team and gracious Champions and we hope we get to play them again this season. Congrats to all the teams who beat us throughout the tourney. Special congrats to Hawaii Heat for the toughest Quarter-Finals match we’ve ever had. And also big congrats to CP Raiders and Wicked on making the Semi-Finals and finishing 2nd and 4th. That means Camp Pendleton teams took 2nd, 3rd and 4th in D2. Crazy competition on our home fields!!! Finally, thanks to all our supporters in the stands and to our pit crew – thanks to both for being so awesome!!!

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU to all our sponsors. Dye Paintball for everything they do. We wore Dye Head to Toe except tanks and shot our Proto Reflexes and loved them. Thank you to Mike Paxson for your help in the pits. Thank you to Arfan and Gen X Global for the best pods ever. Thank you to Ninja Paintball for all your help and especially to Ray for really helping out this weekend. Thank you to KM Straps and Lief for all you do and provide. Thank you to Brandon and Marky and HK Army and PBFashion for always keeping the team in HHHHHH gear. Again, thank you to all our supporters out there and for all the noise you made this weekend!!!

Anyway back to the topic of this thread, the NPPL did not follow there own rules. Items were brought to there attention on made up rules the refs had at points and the players playing in 2 divison at the same event and no answers were given just bull**** to keep people busy and out of there hair. thats not right.

They were bumped to Div 1 Race-to because the D2 race-to only had one other team signed up. They were originally registered to play just D2 for the event.

Only specific event that was stated was MAO. Last I checked MAO was PSP, not NPPL. And seeing how NPPL and PSP classifications are, it technically is ok.

Great Story... Way to try to plug your name and your team! The point is rules were dilberatly broken by the league that made them. If the point is to make rules to break them, why Have them in the first place?

Good thing CP raiders used their D1 line to play D2 for some matches, not like that's illegal. But when your field owner is the vice president that helps i think

$$$$$$$$$$ how both leagues see things $$$$$$$$ yet Nppl lost a lot of customers by not allowing eclipse, dye and empire sell. How they made ccpaintball take stuff off their shelves bcuz they were banned material. But yet GP got to sell eclipse gear and trade my gun got to trade dm12's and axes. I don't see NPPL surviving with this going on. But whatever's paintball seems more like running for office now than a sport.

Is bring your gun to the dead box a penalty? Is yelling at the end of the game while in the dead box a penalty? How about flicking off a ref after you were call out, is that a penalty? These are all things I personally saw CP Raiders do....guess how many penalties...zero! Talk about the worst refers I have ever witnessed! So the NPPL doesn't enforce their rules and the refs on field 2 should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. A complete waste of time and money

There were many difficult calls in the tournament, as there are in any tournament. Being a former reff myself (Not of the NPPL), you get a ton of **** for it. What you need to understand is that Reffs dont get praised when they make awesome calls. Instead they usually get **** for it from the team being penalized, and the team its in favor of is like "whatever, we won" not thanking the reffs that made the good call. So try being an NPPL reff and get the smack talk that they get, then come crying back to the nation about it. We'll have the Whaaa'mbulance ready for you.

Edit: Stop *****'ing and play paintball. This sport started pissing me off when people started getting at peoples throats about everything and not just going out and having fun. If you lost, no one wants to hear you complain. Just grind harder before the next event so that everything clicks; and the more you prepare, the better your chances of winning as a team. You dont lose a tournament from a few penalties...

O man. You're just reaching for anything now. I remember the first time I got killed in a tournament. Funny, I don't remember looking for this many excuses.

Let's recap your claims
He gets $100,000 for the marine team and spends it on the raiders
There is only one marine even on the marine team
He was given brand new fields
And now, after days of complaining, the best you can come up with is bringing a gun to a dead box or flipping off the refs? What's next? Someone took off there plug before the red told them to do they should be banned.

Get a life
