Minor's drinking with parental consent?

So today I heard that minors are actually not prohibited to drink alcohol in certain states under certain regulations. I guess that a parent/guardian must give consent to the minor drinking, i heard that in NY this can even be done in restaurants. I've been looking around online and found some things that talk about it but it all confuses me slightly since there aren't really completely clear answers anywhere...can anyone clarify all the regulations for NY and IN if you know them? Or direct me some place where I can actually understand what I'm reading.

EDIT: There it is. So basically what I gather is that if your guardians explicitly allow you to consume alcohol, it doesn't matter what the law is. You can still get any alcohol related offense, just like a drunk adult can, I believe.

The 'law' applies in Texas as long as the restaurants will comply with it.
Most chain restaurants and bigger name places won't let minors drink no matter what their parents say.

Yeah I saw that map but it still confused me...correct me if I'm wrong. Yellow means a minor can not ever drink no matter what. Pink means a minor can drink with parent consent. Green means a minor can drink no matter what?????

I know that in Wisconsin you can drink in a restaurant at ANY age as long as you're with a parent/guardian. Wisconsin has long been on the forefront of youth drinking. It was one of the last states to end the 18 drinking age (after threat of their highway money being taken away), and several laws have gone to the state legislature about allowing people under 21 who are in the military to drink legally.

The map and key are really confusing.

It's more then just a guardian's consent, they have to be with their child when he/she is drinking.

Hell yeah man. My science teacher told me that they brew beer as a high school lab project up there.

And this link might help figure out the map:

My state doesn't have either type of exemption... no worries. I have been able to buy beer since I was 16, people around here just don't care as long as you do it in your own home and don't hurt others... they are pritty chill about the whole thing.

In GA you're allowed to drink with your parents permission as long as they're there.

I believe you can allow your children to drink on your property if you so chose.

But god help you if your child, or their friends drink on your property or steal your alcohol without your knowledge.

I know in Illinois if a parent supplies alcohol to minors, and it results in injury or death the parents will get charged with a class 4 felony, which is 1-3 years in prison. Injury can be simple as alcohol poisoning.

Guess it is a good law that forces parents to be parents and not friends with their kids.

True, and you might as well report for execution if they drink and drive after using your house to party at.
