2014 MLB Season discussion
Another spring training is upon us.
Ryan Zimmerman brought a first baseman's mitt with him. I really hope Williams isn't blowing smoke again.
Drex, we skipped last year, you want to go again?

Can't wait for this year. Hopefully the injury bug is behind us. I'm going to miss Kinsler and Murphy but our lineup should be real solid with Fielder. I'm also excited for Profar. If he turns out like he's supposed to, our middle infield will be set for quite a while.
edit:
This lineup has a lot of potential:
Andrus
Profar
Beltre
Fielder
Choo
Rios
Moreland
Soto
Martin
The only weak spot is Soto.

Been counting down the days since the first day of the year. Cannot wait for this season. Obviously hoping the Red Sox can repeat - but they got some things to sort out this Spring Training. I still have chills thinking about last season - especially some of those playoff games - easily took a few years off my life.
Also - this being Derek Jeter's last season - I really hope he remains healthy. I'm a Red Sox to the core, I live and breathe Baseball and the Sox, but I have massive respect for Derek Jeter. I really hope he has a big year and goes out on a high note.

personally, I get extremely annoyed when people announce that they are retiring at the end of the upcoming season. Makes it seem like they want the entire season to be about them.

I agree 100% - it's all a publicity stunt now a days. I think it does make their final games more special in a way - but as you said - it's all about the attention and publicity for that player. It's a giant headline about one player from April to October or November

Desmond likes the card so much, he keeps it taped by the nameplate in his locker as if it were his.
"I actually saw this picture on a computer and didn’t realize it was a baseball card," Desmond said. "I put it in my locker the other day. We got ourselves a team baseball card."

Fully expect the Mets to be a dumpster fire again. Sorta looking forward to watching the development of Wheeler and Syndergaard though.

Just a bit bitter.
Wonder how Prince Fielder feels right about now. Gotta be tough being a vegetarian in Texas.

Fielder is probably loving it. He's in a hitter friendly park.

If your slugging first basman needs a hitter friendly park, im not sure he's really a slugging first baseman.

Probably closer to 75. They really should deal Sale.

Why? I understand there are concerns over his ability to stay healthy because of his mechanics, but he's still super young and should still be very good when they are ready to really compete again. They also signed him to a good contract.
