Hammer 7 - M24A2 Bolt Action

So I was bored today and had a spare rem700 stock laying around so I decided to convert my Hammer 7 into a M24 A2 -esk rifle.

FINISHED:

Step 1, cut the grip frame to size. I actually did more cutting than this to make a skeleton grip frame. Even took the safety off:

Then I took some unnecessary metal off the breech with a hacksaw and file.

Spent the rest of the day grinding, dremeling, chiseling, filing and sanding the stock so the hammer can fit. Damn Remington really makes these stocks rock hard.

Still need to slap a bolt on her and put a nipple on the bottom.

Stay tuned. Should have her finished the next time I have a chance to work on her.

That job looks more like something you'd see from a milling machine than a hacksaw and a file! I, and others, am in awe!
As for your stock job, that's pretty amazing as well...I seriously need to do something like this soon. Like now...

Totally Agree about the FSR. Super clean work. Terrifying look and performance at a scenario game!

Holy ****ing ****.

No, really.

That is a phenomenal job. I don't even want it done with a phantom anymore.

What's the action, though?

Is there a bearing and guide for a bolt action system or is it still somehow pump/lever action?

No, it's bolt action. I haven't attached the bolt yet as indicated in my post. The bolt handle will attach directly to the marker bolt. Same place the pump arm attaches to. It will be a straight pull like a Ross or k31

Pretty clean job there mate. How well does the scope work for you with a mask? I have a scope on my 223 and 22LR and they're really picky about where your face is to actually see out the scope (I am sure you're aware).

Keep us updated!

The scope is perfect. Its a long eye relief scope for shotguns 1.4-4.5 variable magnification. Made for paintball. its got 4" of eye relief, which works very well with a mask. Your mask can be a good 2 inches away and its got a clear picture. Shotguns got a lot of kick so you cant put your face right up to them.

Pistol scopes should work well too for the same reason.

Looks great Danny. And a good idea using a shotgun scope. Have to use a long eye relief scope with a mask. Unless you like get scope checked.

Should offer this a service. Make some cash on the side.

Thanks!

I did at one point in time. Almost 90% of them backed out halfway through the build. So I stopped doing it as a service, and just did it as a hobby on my own time. The markers get sold pretty quick anyways, so im not too worried.

I was wondering if there are any adapter to fit any exsisting stock to the hammer 7 ( like A5 or X7)

No, x7 and a5 uses proprietary attachment points to their bodies.

You may be able to find stocks that attach to an asa. May be able to incorperate the tank in there.

But seriously, its not that difficult to do this. Heck, you can get an ATI stock for an sks and make it look Dragonov/ak in likeness and keep the grip intact.

Deff might have to order one from you. But I'd rather use a CCI bucket changer instead and use ONLY FS rounds.

So how is the marker secured into the stock?
What needed to be done to plug the rear of the valvebody after you cut off the ASA?

The marker is secured in the stock at 3 points. At the rear, the original grip frame screw goes through the wrist of the stock into the threads in the rear of the marker. The second secure point is a bracket I made in the front that slips between the grip frame and the aluminum breech, again secured by the hammers front grip frame screw. The backup secure point is the mag release. The marker will not lift up even without one of the grip frame screws as the width of the stock wont allow the mag release button up. You must remove this before removing the whole marker.

Second question. JB weld. You can use a 10-32 plug and drill and tap, but the JB weld is great for holes like this. No protrusion out the back.
