Ways to train

I thought it would be interisting to see how you guys train. What are your technics. Also, I haven't really seen anyone post this. How do you guys get in the mood, or like in the zone to play your best. Also how do you guys train or get more aggressive.

When I get up there and get ready to move, I close my eyes and take a deep breath, then all that is on my mind is paintball, and what to do next. What's my next move? Who's where and where are they going to go? How can I maximize my performance? Where are my vantage points? Screw what else is going on in my personal life, the game is what matters at that moment.

Focus on where I'm going off the break, and get the job done.

At the gym, I try to replicate things I do on the field.

For example, to gain a faster motion off the break, grab a ten pound plate or dumbbell & practice your form as if you were coming off the break. You could also go to the park & get a parachute. I've done that work out a bit & it definitely adds explosive strength to break out sprints. WEAR CLEATS if you plan to do it in grass.

I also try to use the adjustable pull machines to simulate snap shooting quicker. I put it at about shoulder height at the appropriate weight. Pull the weight out a bit & start from a position where there is already tension. Switch hands accordingly. Also, lower the rope to incorporate snap shooting upwards.

Just thought I'd share.

Another good exercise is practicing squats with a 25-45lb plate held against ur chest - do 15 reps fast, but the key is don't go past 90 degrees when you come down, and don't go completely vertical when u stand. Also, to add an edge to it, u can simulate that u r behind a can, and each tile u come back up its to the opposite side of the can, as if u were shooting from the right, then left side. Do 3-4 sets. I started doing this with only a 10 lb plate. Now I use a 45. Legs never get tired on the field from dipping, bobbing and dodging.

Another good exercise is to do wall sits, keep legs at 90 degrees, hands dropped to ur sides, back flat against the wall. U'll want to be able to get to 5 mins or so. Helps again, but more with crab walking.

run a lot. do lots of burst sprints and focus on breathing. If you have a treadmill or eliptical at your house you can wear your mask to learn to breathe without fogging mask.

For training I usually have my routine divided between fitness, marker handling and communication. Fitness is usually a simple cardio workout or practicing slides and dives. Marker handling is usually form and accuracy. For form I stand in front of a mirror and correct my posture. Accuracy is usually snap drills and laning drills using cardboard boxes as targets on the field. Finally, communication is just team shouting and executing plays in scrims or dry fire exercises.
