Why are Intimidators losing popularity?
I have noticed lately that I am seeing less and less people with Timmies. Is there something I am missing or has everyone moved on to Egos? I recently bought an Alias and I have had probably 15 different people tell me I should have got a Trix or an Ego.

Thats an opinion that you hear. There is nothing wrong with alias's. It's all personal preference

I love my timmy, but you are right, I do not see them anywhere. I would never trade my timmy, and I would shoot it over any gun. And don't listen to the people who say you should have gotten something else.

You can get NIB Alias @ 127.4 for $600-$700 all day long now. Trixs are $725-750 w/o a board. Minions are $750.

because in my opinion, timmys are an acquired taste. i love my timmy, but i hated it at first. they are by no means as small as a proto,or as light as a shocker. unlike smallers guns they also cant be whipped around as easily as a proto because they are longer guns. They also for whatever reason have teh reputation for needing lots of maintenence and arent reliable which isnt true. Timmys in my opinion are a more elegant gun,and arent for everyone. i like my timmy, and i hate protos and shockers. Dm4's,5's, and 5's though are longer and i am comfortable using them. a timmy is like a pump i think, some people love them, and everyone else hates them. ill swear by my timmy. others wont.

It's mainly because people just want the newest and best thing. People think that just because it isn't new, it sucks, and they shouldn't use it.

Its just a trend. Paintball is full of them.
I remember in the early 90s, most teams used automags.
Then by the mid 90s, most teams used cockers.
Then by the late 90s, most teams used Angels.
Timmies dominated in the early 00's
Now trixs seem to be dominting.
Just trends. They come and go. It only matters if you are looking to buy or sell, and are on a tight budget.
For example: Good time to BUY a cocker, as the market has completely dropped for them. But, bad time to sell one. Heading that way for timmies.

Its as easy as this. Timmy's are not the "Flavor of the Month". Give it time...they'll be back.

My friend has a timmy, I shot it and i'm in love. I'd probably take a Shocker over it, maybe an Angel One if I could try it first, but a timmy is, in my opinion, way up there on my list.

People have moved on to egos b/c a timmy = a QEVless, heavier, bigger, a bit less efficient and maybe louder (depending on how its set up) ego. I am not a trix fan I dont like how the body style feels, I love the feel of the timmy/ego body style, but a lot of people swear by the matrix design. As far as how smooth they shoot....a well set up ego isnt much different from a trix.

Most people have moved away from ram-driven markers. Most want spool valves (DM's, shockers...) The people that do want ram driven markers, have mostly jumped on the EGO bandwagon. Yes, it may be a little better than the timmy...but people dont care, EGO's are whats hot right now, and not seeeing full teams sponsored by Bob using the newer TImmies, its not getting out. If XSV was using Timmies...guess what would be this years hot gun...

meh timmies rock just I've modded my DM4 into what I believe is the perfect marker for me. If I hadn't gotten a DM4 then it would've been an alias or dark timmy.

As someone who never has owned a timmy but looked into getting them used, the biggest turnoffs were
1. The reported lack of quality from some people - its easy to take most comments with a grain of salt about somebodies gun failing, but after a while it does build up.
2. Comments that the alias platform was even more unreliable than the 2k2 - same as above.
3. Timmies being sold either seemed to be incredibly sexy but carried with them an enormous price tag, or hideously ugly and cheap. In both cases however, for the same cost theres a slew of other guns you could invest in.
just my $0.02
