There's really no need for a laptop in college.
for you, sure that might work. I like taking notes on my laptop during class, and recording the lectures with audacity.

I have a dropbox but I never use it.

Anybody know the max flow rate for 1/4" distro tubing, like in drip systems? Google returned no answers.

You're flow rate is gonna depend on pressure and volume you are putting through it. Look up the pressure rating for the tubing and make sure you dont exceed that.

my neighbor needs 4 citrus trees watered, preferably on drip. each tree this time of year needs about 4 gallons of water per day if she continues on watering 4 days a week, I believe. the issue lies in the fact that what I have to work with are 4 or 5 risers with which to convert to drip with manifolds or something. they're all on the same zone, though, so the trees have to run for the same amount of time as the other half of the backyard. to make matters worse, part of the lawn is covered by this zone.

this time of year she runs the zone for about 5 minutes, 4 days a week. in the summertime she runs it for about 10 minutes for the same number of days. I'm trying to get the needed water to each tree with drip lines, but I've pretty much ruled out drippers since the highest flow drippers I've seen around here are 2GPH, which aren't nearly enough if she only runs the zone for 5 minutes. I'm looking at microsprayers or something right now, but poop almighty whoever designed the backyard to have all this crap on one zone is a nincompoop.

edit: currently she has bubblers in the stretch of earth with the 4 citrus trees on it, but they aren't getting anywhere close to the entirety of the canopy and most of the water is collecting and running directly into a drain. so that doesn't really work.

edit 2: i suppose if I found some kind of emitter (locally), be it sprayer or dripper, that put out 10GPH I'd be set as long as she runs the zone for 6 minutes instead of 5.

Well you dont really want all the water coming out all at once. You want it to drip over a decent period of time, iirc.

normally, that'd be ideal, but since these emitters are on the same zone as the majority of the back yard, they have to run for the same amount of time. the only other feasible option, it seems, would be a near-total conversion of the yard. either that or cap the risers near the trees and just put a dedicated drip or soaker line on the trees themselves, but that'd take up a faucet.

i could also install a nelson big gun to really make sure they're watered properly.

Some food for thought. It's for new trees, but it's got some solid advice to apply elsewhere.

i'm thinking it should be some kind of ditch dug around the periphery of each tree which fills with water from drip lines.
