Except that's one of few threads less common than impulse.. you'll probably find more people with automag barrels than phantom.

Oh noes not cocker threads. Now I cant use that barrel with my
PE, dye, bob long, vanguard, alien, machine, J-4, macdev, proto, DP, Valken or Empire guns. And these old guns I have, like the cocker, quest, timmy, marq, ICD or Infinity, those wont work either.
Oh well. the few grams of metal and extra half inch of length is unmanageable, so its good that I wont use it.

XSV was using them in Dallas, looked promising.
They couldn't have had them for too long so JT must have done something right with this gun.

If this is a 'balanced poppit' isn't that the same valve system as the 4th gen intimidator? What other markers can be referenced as a balanced poppit, and why is the system 'less reliable' than a regular poppit valve?

Less reliable in this situation is a misnomer. The balanced poppet valve traditionally has more sealing gaskets (o-rings).
It isn't the same valve from a 4th gen Timmy. Why? This isn't a BL gun. Concept should be about the same, though.

So does the apprehension from players come from the fact that there are more o-rings to fail? Wasn't the 09 impulse also a balanced poppet?

Rich has been shooting his every single weekend after World Cup. Thomas received his Impulse ~2 weeks out from the event. So far we have had zero problems with the valve. If you were in Dallas on Saturday or Sunday Rich and Junior were doing shooting demos/allowing people to shoot it at the Empire booth.

Pretty much. Yes, the SP 09 Impulse was a balanced poppet. The balanced poppet valve markers that were released previously have had some serious valve design flaws.
Honestly, I pay them (people that don't take the time to honestly evaluate and rely on bias of preference and aversion to change) no mind.
Like the gentleman who posted above me (Kazer) said, they are being used and have had zero valve problems. I have faith that the engineers have learned from the mistakes of others.

Sounds pretty cool, my 2k6 Timmy shoots super smooth and is really not too hard to maintain (despite the stigma). I'm sure this is an improvement on the design, hopefully one of these will venture it's way to my local field eventually.

From a looks ONLY standpoint.... The Imulse looks like an older Ego Macroline included. Interesting that PE is moving away from the Macroline albeit slowly. IMO the LV1 air pipe or whatever they are calling it. I am just curious have the first mass buyers will rate it.
Exciting year. New platforms and old renewals. Can't speak to barrel threading. Honestly I like cocker threads simply because they are on every marker I own.

I wonder why there are no reviews anywhere on the new Impulse, every other new gun released at the Extravaganza has had shooting Videos, efficiency test etc.
Yes they were used in Texas, but the ones they were using had different regulators and feed necks.
if you watch a few of there games, you can clearly see.

The reason you don't see shooting videos and what not is because there simply are not that many guns out there yet. Only a few of the XSV players even have one. The other gun companies simply have a much larger budget to do more guns in the pre-production runs. And some copmanies really are in full production just have not got them all shipped in to the USA just yet.
I have to say I watched every XSV game in Dallas and did not see different regs or feed necks. I will have to try to take a closer look I guess.

I think Thomas did have some different parts on his. I didn't think Junior did on the red one or Rich on the blue one though:

They probably still haven't made the final model yet. Looks likes he's got a cp reg and barrel and an unknown feedneck

Good eyes!
The marker Thomas was using in Dallas was a glossy anno test marker.

price point is too high. the original impulse was an amazing gun at good value. $500 mark. That's where they should have aimed for with pricing.

there has been some improvements, oled and all
but for the price there asking, you would think they would have a few gun reviews to get people interested in them before the release date, build the hype.
i loved the way gun felt in my hands but it would be nice to have some real world reviews, from an old school impulse owners pov
