Nice gun

and your ASA is milled in the right direction. I think 2 of the 3 of mine were milled backwards so the pattern goes against the body.

i understand the "for the sake of old times" but I would seriously pull that asa and drop and throw a normal cp on it for playing. I wouldn't toss the one you have, but i would update the asa.

when did drop forwards fall from grace? When I was really into playing choosing the right drop forward was a fun part of building.

A few years ago I bought an invert mini for my occasional paintball outings. I dont mind playing without a drop forward at all, but my oldschool guns with them still seem to shoulder alright. Its funny 12 years ago I would never consider playing without a drop forward. Today it seems like people feel the opposite. I think either is fine for me now, but the last time I was "serious" about paintball our economy was in good shape and I had a full head of hair.

I think the drop forward went away with the introduction of inexpensive sub 50ci 4.5K tanks, back in the day tanks were huge and 4.5k were freakishly expensive and drops were the fix... but who knows what really happened, mullets were cool in the 80's, now we laugh at them... i'm ok with drops forwards but lets not bring back the mullets.

I haven't played in 10 years and so much as changed it's kinda overwhelming. It's like a nuke dropped on the industry and the aliens took over (referring to all the companies that went bankrupt and the new ones that rose up)

The older HPA tanks were a lot heavier, and when they first came out, they weren't screw in. You needed a drop to mount them. The also helped balance the weight of the tank so the markers weren't completely back heavy. Tanks have come a long way in reg size, usability (screw ins), and weight. I still use drops all the time, but it's more because I was so used to playing with them from growing up using one on my old R/T.

BTW, beautiful Ripper. One of my favorite cocker bodies ever, and that anno looks awesome on it.

You have my favorite trigger components, AKA trigger plate + Belsales roller sear. Beautiful gun you have there, don't let it go or you'll regret it!

Awesome ripper. I would love to have one of those.

Nothing wrong with using large drops especially if you dont know one of the shorty tanks or like me cant stand the tank in the way of the grip.

I have used drops on every gun I own since I started play. But then again I still have & use the tanks that are sadly near their end of life date. I bought them new. I love my 114/3k

Yes choosing the right drop is still fun. Harder to find but still fun. Finding one that is comfortable for you is tough.

I also still use my Kapp Dropzne II cradle. I like the way I can offset the tank to the left. Just a more natural shooting position for me.
