I think the protected colors are orange and yellow. The NPPL made the switch to yellow paint this year, so that's definitely a protected color. It used to be orange so I am not sure if they held on to orange as a protected color or not.

I think Orange is still the protected color. According to the Rulebook linked on NPPL.com:
Section 5.01 Protected Color. Players’ uniforms may not contain the color orange, which is reserved as the “Protected Color” for paint.

That's funny. We have a d2 team that is allowed to wear orange jerseys even though it's a protected color. What's eve more amusing is the same team was forced to turn their jerseys inside out at Chicago but they were allowed to wear them here at dc. I guess well go out and spray paint all our gear orange tonight. It's clear it all about who u are and who you know because frank straight up said it wasn't an issue for this team to wear these orange jerseys...
And people wonder why this league isn't taken seriously.

i thought the only reason you weren't allowed to wear orange was because that was the color of fill in the paint they were using and now with them using yellow can't see why it would be a problem.just my thought

Yellow is the ONLY banned color in the NPPL this year and from now on. That team mentioned above at the Chicago event was NY OBNOXIOUS FACTORY and we do have a dark orange faded to black in our jerseys. Obnoxious took 1st place at that event and now is 1st place overall in the division after a 2nd place at the DC Open. And that team that forced us to flip our jerseys got destroyed in 48 seconds with 7 bodies up for a perfect 100 points and our team didn't have a single spec of splatter from bunkers on their inside out jerseys.
Please get your facts straight before posting false information. We have written consent from the good folks at NPPL that orange is not banned. And for the lovely quote of it's "who you are and who you know", do you think if we "knew people" and had those "connections" we would be turning paying sponsored jerseys inside out??? We were absolutely infuriated that we had to flip our team logo and all our sponsors inside out. Once again....please get your facts right before posting for everyone to read. And our friends LA Infamous have both orange AND yellow jerseys, but no one ever says anything about the pro teams!

Check the rule book. The actual ruling on it is quoted above.
Yellow is reserved for paint in the PSP, Orange is reserved for paint in the NPPL.
That's why Infamous made the switch to orange jerseys this year, same with XSV and the red, the PSP switching protected colors forced them to swap out their traditional yellow.
Up until the past few events every team was shooting yellow paint, as the two available vendors both were carrying only yellow fill, so it was never an issue. Valken was providing orange paint to it's teams at this event (as it should, since that's the protected color for NPPL), which is why the issue arose. Teams shooting orange paint don't want to shoot it at teams wearing orange.
Asking the refs to enforce the rule book isn't unreasonable.
You guys have been playing very well, congrats on the high finishes. I'll definitely be looking forward to playing against you again.

The refs might not have been enforcing it but orange is illegal for this year. I didn't want to take any chances so I checked with the ultimate ref.

Like it was stated before, Valken was distributing orange at this event.
RPS is too lazy to make 2 colors for 2 leagues, so all the Evil has been in yellow so far, but that doesn't change the fact that the official rules for the league say that orange is the protected paint color, not yellow.

I completely agree man. Let me say this, the guys at Obnoxious are excellent players, but stay away from them when it comes to technicalities in the rules and other similar issues within the business and administrative side of paintball. They have no idea what they're talking about, I know this from experience. Like I said, excellent ballers, and their field is awesome too. They just need to stick to playing and let someone who knows business handle the other side of the big time leagues and all tournament play/business affairs.

I love how the guy asked a simple question about if his gun was legal or not, and it turned into a big team flame.

regardless of what the rules say and everything else, both leagues should agree on a single fill color whether it be neon orange or yellow or pink (anything bright that will stand out obviously) and just stick with it. the companies providing the paint can clearly make whatever fill colors they want so if a standard was put in place there wouldn't be any of these arguments and then gun makers would also know that they need to be careful around a single color when putting out schemes for their guns
