lasering removes the anno, so there is technically an absence colour of and so it is not really white, adding colour would be a wholly different process,

Oh and Todd's that one guy, you know on this forum, with the paintball marker.... you know...

Todd Martinez. I don't remember which company it was (possibly odd) but they were experimenting with black lasering. The process is not true lasering because as stated before lasering removes the the color from the anno which is why it is always white. From what I had heard because the process is a reverse of true lasering and added color it didn't hold up well. It could fairly easily be scratched or worn off and due to this I believe it is not offered anymore.

thank u, well then that shoots my plan to hell. i thought it would be awesome too....maybe if i have it re-anno'd but some how get them to do the graphic in black before redoing the dust olive...i dont know much about anno's but i think ive seen it before, i just thought gettin it lasered would be cheaper and better...

The company you are thinking of is CS Paintball.

Its more of a process where they laser the gun traditionally then they go over the lasered areas with a chemical that blackens the raw exposed aluminum. The is no way to "add" color with laser engraving. The only way to add color to aluminum is to anodize it.

And lasering is not better than anodizing. Lasering actually removes the existing anodizing and exposes the aluminum to the elements which over time will oxidize and will appear "dirty" you will have to continuously clean the lasered areas to keep the raw/white appearance.

When done correctly laser does NOT remove all of the anodizing. You can test this with an multimeter.

Black laser engraving is not uncommon what so ever in the world of laser engraving, although it is not found often in paintball. The chemical used to achieve black laser is expensive and not very tolerant to variances in focal depths. If done incorrectly it will flake off or not show up, when done correctly the black you see is chemically bonded to the metal and very durable.

black laser work. This was done by PBCustomz about 5 years ago. This is, to my knowledge, the only marker they did black anodizing with. It is durrable, but as you can see, there were some areas that it didn't take to well, these are on the body by the feedneck and also the lower edge of the body. This marker was laser'd piece by piece also, so if you're looking for something done on the sides, it may take better. I know I'm looking to have it done later this year on a shocker I'm finishing up.

I'm trying to laser engraving my marker, but a problem arises.
When I make a engraving with a laser at a certain height, the lower areas of the marker do not get marked. To resolve, make new recording to a lower height(or more laser power) but only in part of the area previously engraved(the part that stayed kinda like fade) and the part not engraved.
It turns out that so does this new recording, the zone was overridden, becomes an mark with a slightly different color.
How can I fix these marks and stay with the design with a homogeneous color?

Sorry my very bad english!

As far as I know Black Laser Engraving can only be done on chrome. Here is a derby cover I had done for my bike.

There are companies out there who do offer black laser engraving. Only problem is they all recommend that the laser engraving be on a flat surface. Like the side of a shoebox shocker flat. PBcustomz did amazing work and so far theirs is the only one I've seen that actually didn't rub off of the curved surface. I've been keeping my eye out for a while myself. I wanted to create my own POW/MIA Geo 2.1 since PE wasn't interested in any more of my money than the BNIB cost of a Geo 2.1. So I was going to get a used one from CS Paintball/lasermygun anodized in the white/black with orange fade and get lasering done on it (I'm aware it's PGA from PE, if you can point me towards somebody actively doing non-commercial PGA I'm all ears). Can't find a company that can stand by their black lasering like they do the white so I scrapped that idea for now. Maybe if I find one, I'll commit heresy and get my Clone VX done as a POW/MIA.
