What do you guys think about West Virginia, and how they'll be the next few years?

I ask because I've always been a huge Ohio State fan, but I recently got denied () to OSU, and it appears I'll be going to WVU. It's an odd situation because I never do something like this, but I guess in this case, WVU will have to take over as my favorite team, and now I've been reading up on them.They have the Mountaineers at #61 all time, which surprised me, as I thought they would be in the top fifty.

The same site also has West Virginia's Historical Data, which includes all of WVU's championships, bowl records, records against all opponents, head coaches, etc., etc. It's basically a treasure trove of facts and information about WVU football. However, it's simply facts and information, and there's not an actual written history of Mountaineer Football, so it is limited somewhat.

We sucked until the late 1970's. Except for like 1922-24 we did prett well.

Then in the mid 90's things started going down hill.

Then when Don Nehlen retired (best coach this school has ever seen) we got Rod.

He sucked until Pat White, Steve Slaton, Beasty offensive line, great kicker, Reynaud and Shmitt came along.

Rich Rod turns down Bama, gets a WV born coach that we would have gotten had Rod left to Bama.

Rod leaves next year to Michigan, where we make the stupidest decision of school athletics in the last century.

Presently, we have the #20th ranked recruiting class but the coaches cant coach them to the sucess they could have.

Stew also predicts in the year 2021 Tyler Lively will become the next WVU head football coach. I agree that the coordinators that he is bringing made for a great staff. If nothing else Kiffin has proven to be a great recruiter of players and coaches.

However, there are a couple of really big problems with this situation. When the success of your program relies so heavily on your coordinators, it creates a dysfunctional dynamic. Your superstar coordinators are in a position to put you over a barrel because you need them more than they need the job. It creates some interesting power struggles and in fighting. And it leaves you in a bad position if/when they leave.

Any team who's assistants are more coveted then the HC is a team that's always on the brink of collapse.

Take a look at his record since 1998 and you'll know. He and Tubbs kind of did the same thing. After their peak season they dropped off fast and never recovered.

Actually I don't have a problem with him leaving for the USC job. It's his dream job. And I don't have a problem with the timing. Sure, the timing was ****ty for Tennessee, but you take your dream job when it's offered. You don't get to choose when that is.

I thought he was a jackass long before this because of the way he acts and talks. Those of you on the west coast may not be familiar with some of his antics here in the SEC. He publicly accused Spurrier and Meyer of cheating in recruiting when it turned out he just didn't know the rules. That's a jackass.

Here's something that a lot of people aren't considering. Muschamp and Saban are VERY good friends. Saban gave Muschamp his first big break in coaching. Other coaches that worked with them at LSU have described their relationship as almost like father and son. Muschamp spends a week with Saban every summer at their lake house in Georgia.

Being the HC at Tennessee would put a serious strain on that friendship. Not only would they be completing head-to-head every year on the field, but they'd complete all year in recruiting. And we all know how negative that can get. And in a rivalry like Bama vs Tenn, the outcome of those games can get a coach fired. It would be a very tough situation for both of them.

DeAngelo Peterson came to Party City today and while I was ringing up his purchase I chatted him up on Miles and Crowton. He didn't explicitly say he doesn't like the way Crowton's running things but he gave me the impression that him and several other offensive players aren't too impressed with the wizard.

Oh btw he got 51 lemonheads, kind of weird to go to a party store and buy that.
