Guns that shoot both First strike and regular paintballs

I am looking for a gun that can shoot both first strike and regular .68 paintballs. I would like to be able to switch between the two on the fly.

I know the DYE DAM can do this but $1200 is out of my price range for a marker I will only use a handfull of times a year.

Any suggestions?

I am pretty sure Tiberius Arms markers can go between the two.

Spyder mr5. I got to hold it.. Its pretty light weight compare to other similar marker. However the owner told me that when you switch from 68 to first strike there's a chance you might slice one. He told me he had to turn it gun upside down to do it.. I guess if you have a force feeder you're SOL.. I guess it's cheaper than Tiberius but I would save up.

When you do this you have to crono with the FS and know that the regular paint will be shooting 10-20fps slower.

Magfed markers work well for this.
Tiberius 8 and 9.1s
Tpx with the proper breach
Hammer 7
Spyder MRX and MR5?
Some of the milsigs
Dye dam
Hand loaded empire trracer
Scarib arms TRG2? -> not actually sure

Probably a few more.

Not looking for a pistol. Must be on the fly change from regular paint to first strike. MR5 is the top pick so far but I do not like the idea of flipping the gun to switch between the two types of rounds.

Any other suggestions?

Yeah, don't use first strikes...

They cost too much, and the fps changes between regular paint and first strikes dramatically. So there is no way to safely change between them on the fly, unless you set it for first strikes, and then shoot way slower with regular paint...

If you want your paint to shoot more accurately at distance, then get a good backspin system and learn how to use it.

Oh, don't be a baby... You already got your answer above, the Hammer 7 or MR5 is the low cost choice to shoot both.

I'm just trying to save you heartache.

You said you will only use it a few times a year, and you didn't want to drop big bucks on a DAM, so clearly you have a limited budget. First strikes are expensive, so logically... You can't afford to shoot them enough to get good at shooting them.

That is a problem, as first strikes shoot differently than regular paint. So you have to shoot both enough that you know how to set your marker depending on which paint you are using. And that comes with experience... AKA using it a ton.

I would assume you know how to shoot regular paint, since you have been on here so long, without a lot of practice, first strikes won't be the "one shot" kill you see online, as those guys practice a lot.

And they ONLY use first strikes. I've seen plenty of guys try to use DAMs and switch between the rounds, needless to say, I haven't been impressed with their results.

Again, if you switch between regular paint and first strikes, you will have serious velocity issues shot to shot...

Not being a baby. I practice every weekend except for holidays and other days that fields are closed. That being said my marker budget is in no way related to paint budget or what I can afford. I play speedball almost exclusively and my local fields don't have amazing woods games turnouts. This is the reason why I don't want to drop a G on a marker that would be woodsball exclusive. It is not really based on what I can afford, more on what I feel I want to pay. When I go to a big game I have money for paint and first strike rounds. If I can't find a marker that can switch between first strike and regular paint easily then I will try the apex barrel system and use it on one of my other markers. Luxe 2.0, EGO 8, Drone DX, E2 Cocker, CCM Sniper 2 or KP3 with some modification.

Looks amazing but out of my budget for this gun. I looked at something very similar at a booth this past weekend at LL6. Bolt action paintball gun, very cool but I don't think it will catch on enough to build a company around it. (not referring to CCM)

Friend of mine bought an MR5. All he had to do was twist the barrel (which turns the breech insert) to switch from hopper-fed to mag-fed. Although i did not see or hear of him doing this in-game. But i hear folks do it with the Hammer 7 successfully in-game, provided they replaced the breech set screw with a thumbwheel screw (Hammer 7 has a set screw for it, i don't think the MR5 does). Either way, you'd just have to remember, or clearly mark, which direction to twist, otherwise you risk damaging the detents.

Because that is really useful during a game.

That also helps mess up detents.

An FN 303 will shoot both in 15 round drums. The list price on the gun is somewhere just above $800. There's just the slight problem of them not wanting to sell you the gun unless it's for a police or military unit...once you make it past that hurdle, modifying it to bring the velocity down for paintball has to be easy by comparison.

T9 would be my personal gun of choice. Not sure if that's out of your price range or not though.

It takes some machining, Simon posted his "how to" a little while back. Would be really fun though.

EDIT: Got ninja'd, obviously that's in response to the FN 303 post.
