HP 850psi is recomendet. But you can try as it might work.
How ever, if you ran into problems I would suggest you try a HP tank first.

HP is highly recommended and is normally required in order to get full velocity. As Coyut said though, there is absolutely no harm in giving it a try. Most likely though, you won't be able to achieve full velocity.

There is an LP specific HPR spring that you can purchase and install in order to get full velocity when using an HP output tank, but then you need to ensure that you only ever use the marker with an LP output tank - use an HP output tank with the LP reg spring, and you could damage your solenoid.

This is the reason why the Geo reg has been designed specifically to work in the correct pressure range only when used with an HP output tank - if the reg had a wide enough pressure range to provide a high enough pressure when using an LP output tank (causing you to have to crank out the pressure adjustment screw to increase the output pressure), then the pressure boost you received when switching to an HP output tank could lead to solenoid damage.

With the reg set to give no more pressure than required when using an HP output tank, the solenoid is protected, as changing the tank would only ever reduce the output pressure from the reg, not increase it.

uziel's post was pretty thorough, but just to recap you cannot use an LP tank reg on a Geo and achieve the desired FPS. if you are using an LP tank reg then you need to get an LP spring to replace the stock spring on your Geo's HPR. this will allow you to achieve proper FPS w/ an LP tank reg. Be careful not to use an HP tank reg with the LP spring installed as it may potentially damage your Geo's solenoid.

other fix is to replace your LP tank reg with an HP tank reg. i'm not sure about CP reg's but i know certain reg's like guerilla air sells a conversion kit to turn LP into HP, so you might be able to do that.

I use a LP reg (I actually got the conversion kit for free but havent found a reason to use it yet) on all my guns (including my teammate's Geos) and it works just fine

My friend uses his LP CP reg on his tank, and it works fine on his Geo. It shoots amazing. You will probably need to mess with your settings a little.

my buddy runs the LP cp reg on his geo and he has his reg adjuster all the way out inorder to chrono 290

i would imagine this increases kick and reduces efficency? or does the pressure not matter for that

You can also send your CP tank reg off to CP and they will rebuild it and convert it to HP at little to no charge....I sent 3 CP tank regs in recently for this exact reason...and it only cost me shipping on my end....CP is one of the BEST in customer service....

Using an LP output tank is reducing the pressure output of the Geo's inline reg - it's not a balanced reg, so pressure input will have an effect on pressure output. As such, the reason he is having to crank out the reg adjuster is to bring the pressure up to what it should be. The actual pressure being used to fire the shot ends up being the same, he's just having to adjust the reg more to achieve the same pressure, due to using an LP output tank. As such, kick and efficiency should not be effected.
