Well, I've got a 75 that I can't set up so I really shouldn't buy something bigger than that yet... Hate living in the dorms.

If the clown knife wouldn't always hide, I'd get one. They just like to hide and I want to see the fish I have, not see them hiding in a tube.

If I had a slightly dimmer light he'd come out more during the day. He is quite active though, definitely one of my favorites.

I just need a much larger tank and more hiding places. That stupid pictus hangs around him non stop.

Yeah, I have a couple rules. 1, no fish that exceed 12" without 180+gal tank, no cat fish, and no arowana's/gars.

Fortunately home grown black ghosts stay at about 12", same with the bichirs. My pictus is nearly full grown at 5" too.

I'm still shooting for a 180 though. Hopefully I can get one for a decent price.

Something will turn up eventually.

Lurking around the Subaru thread for many a years I know you're more than capable of finding good deals.

Haha that I am I tend to not buy things unless I can convince myself I'm losing money if I don't buy them

Speaking of subaru, I'm torn between big turbo & wheels or big tank and all new supporting stuff.

I'm half considering if this hobby is worth it. I have a tendency to go all in

you guys talking about big tanks are making me want to just hold off for my tax return and combine it with a slice of my income and get like a nice 90 gallon.

Do it JC!

We could all have our big tank build-ups

I know I'd love to see a kind of photos journal of you guys doing your tank builds.

I might have to hit this up just for the market place, just make sure I've got a cooler, some prime and some sort of battery powered pump to keep the fish alive while I'm here and in transport back to GA.

That video, once muted, was pretty cool. I can't stand to hear the word "Sterbai" ever again...glad I got emeralds.

Speaking of tetras, my last two got eaten and I'm missing a guppy. Weird

In entirely unrelated news, one of my bichirs is insanely fat and now lets me touch him/her. It swam into my hand during tonight's feeding.

I'm propagating murderous fish right now

I guess I'll see how much the tank will run me. 180 or bust!

What do you guys think? The biggest fish in have is a black Ghost knife followed by 3 Bichirs.

There isn't much on Craigslist right now, hopefully that changes over the next week or so.
180. I don't know where you got your information, but BGK's can get up to ~18-20".

I know they can but from what I've seen they don't in home aquariums. The biggest one I could find was 15" but the owner didn't have pictures.

i got an empty 180 gal at my grandparents in need of some repair (needs to be resealed, pretty easy fix tbh). not sure if i should sell it or hang on to it for later. **** was free, i pulled it off someone's curb on trash day a few years ago.

DEFINITELY look on craigslist. ive found so many insane deals on there for tanks. you can find some that need minor repair for next to nothing.

edit: zebra pleco is like what, 200 bucks max? that isnt too bad (i am pretty anti-pleco so it does not matter to me). you wanna talk expensive freshwater?

large widebar dat, about $600-over a grand. you can get a small one for a couple hundred but they grow real slowly

now, really expensive, especially in this part of the world, asian arows. talking thousands here for rare specimens

then there are koi, which are in a league of their own. 10s of thousands of dollars for pretty carp? pass

Damn that's crazy! I didn't realize freshwater fish got that expensive.

I like the simple layouts too, but I think I'm going to have to order my plants. Even so, I'm not sure what to pick.

I'm still scouring CL for good tanks. My tax money should be here next week.

would a zebra pleco be happy in water that is 75 degrees? or would it need to be a few degrees higher? so i can accommodate all my tank mates.

i've seen some zebras priced at like $400-$500 but yeah $200 isn't too bad for a fish.

edit: wow, so they need an oxygen rich tank, means no plants. whaaaaat. maybe lightly planted?
