no i dont think their battery hogs i used one in my sp1 for the fall and all winter long (mainly just messing around) about a case of paint and the batt still has plenty of juice.

you can use pretty much any 9v batt in it rechargable or not.

Mine's not too bad on batteries.

I think I've put two in. The first one was of unknown use/condition, and the second, was new, haven't replaced it since. Owned my SP-1 since December.

My Vibe is a battery hog, I just use rechargeables. My friend's SP1 is also a battery hog. But this is when the temp is low. I heard that it's not as much in the summertime.

More of an air hog than battery hog.

I just bought an SP1, took it out yesterday, and man was I happy.

It was raining the entire day, I played for about 3 hours and shot 1000 rds of Empire Blizzard. Don't worry about battery usage. Buy new Duracell or some good rechargeables and you'll be fine.

In the cold I'm sure the batteries don't last nearly as long. Batteries do so much worse when they're subjected to extreme temperatures...

I haven't ever had a problem with the battery or air. I did notice for some reason that mine runs more efficient on CO2 then HPA.

My SP1 has been running fine for quite a while now on a Duracell. You can get a 4 pack for about $8 here (@ Canadian Tire, for you CDN viewers). I bought a pack, dropped in a fresh one and played for about 9 hours. It missed a few shots (I waited a second and it would fire, but when shooting quick it would miss). Not wanting to lose due to a dead battery I swapped it out again, although it worked fine in my Revvy. Anyway a fresh battery and it's been good for about 12 hours of game time (over 3 Sundays, 4 hrs each). I shot it a bit yesterday out back just practicing... it's fine still.

CO2 is pretty good too. I'm getting about 1200 shots to a 20oz CO2. Given that CO2 tanks are dirt cheap, I can take 2 with me to the outlaw field and play an entire case. Then bum some more

I've noticed that certain batteries won't work, so maybe that battery life is based on quality of battery(duh). So calling the sp-1 a battery hog is a little unfair, just MHO.

Wonder if a 9.6v rechargable would work with no harm.

9.6v rechargeables should be fine... Personally, I use duracells, and even after almost a whole summer of use, and then a day of crank-fired double gun duty, I never had to change the battery in the gun. I have changed it since because I can't believe it has much life left to give after all that but I definitely would not call it a battery hog at all.

Rechargeables are the answer anyhow!
I always recharge and since I have 3 of them I never run out of juice.
Plus more importantly it saves the planet and money.

Works for me!

FYI, check the Milliamp output on the rechargeable. The SP1 requires more then most. Our rechargeable system is 700Mamp. Most others are like 170. Which is not a lot of juice...
