The TekAngel Build
Can it be considered voiding the warranty when the warranty expired about fourteen years ago?
Back when the original LED Angels were still a hot property, I picked up a "parts box" special, intending to rebuild and mod it. However, in a typical case of the cobbler's kids going without shoes, I set the box aside meaning to "get to it later", and there it sat.
It's now, finally, "later".
Earlier this summer I had a bright idea on how to update the old girl to more modern specs (proper eyes, a common 9V instead of the NiCad pack and hard-to-find charger, etc.) and started collecting parts.
A little over a month ago, I dusted off the box-o-parts and went to work.
Drill some new holes...
Plug some old holes...
Mill a new vertical ASA...
Make a new backplate...
Do a little wiring...
Fit a new grip frame...
And voila`! It's just that simple.
Okay, so it wasn't quite that easy, but the transplant was certainly a success. She's fast, consistent, well balanced and surprisingly efficient.
Now, what color should I have it anodized?
Doc.

That is outrageous, beautiful, sick nasty awesome. I think you should anno it in a classic Joy Division scheme Maybe black to yellow fade? Projcts like this make me wish I had some milling equipment.

Looks awesome. I love seeing old Angels brought back to life. I'd almost like to see it stay polished that or a classic splash.

I was thinking an old-school splash, like the famous "British Racing Green", but I can't find an anno shop that still does that kind of thing. At least, without charging a veritable fortune.
The silver/black motif was kind of accidental, but I like it. It's gotta be reannoed, though, both the body and grip frame have plenty of little nicks and dings I'd like to buff out.

-Hopefully you didn't miss out on the Halloween storyline. I spent a lot of time on the color.

Doc, if you are looking for an anodizer check out some of these guys https://www.pbnation.com/showthread.php?t=3881975 I'm sure a few of them could do the old Eclipse Banzi Green
If not shoot me a pm, I have done a lot of Banzi green guns over the past years. I'm sure we can work something out. Oh, and how did the grip frame go from being silver while being wired and black when on the gun?

-It didn't. I was assembling a loom using 3mm eye elements, and used an extra Ego frame and board I had to test them. The Ego stuff is going on another transplant on a different gun.

I dig it minus the frame and non angel eyes... side note, you think you could remake a 15* ASA for the LED's?

-Without the frame an eyes, it's pretty much just a beat-up old bone-stock Dark.
Though it does have some little significance in that it was one of the first-ever paintball guns- period- with anti-chop eyes. It was probably one of the first five or six to get KM2's Gabriel ACE install back in '98 or '99.
But anyway, yes, I can whip you up a 15 degree if you'd like. Either forward or backward, your choice.
