If it sat in the closet cocked then the spring is probably toast.

If you can't get those to work with it then ANS has stock springs for just a couple of dollars.

It's probably just your reg.
What pressure are you running? How are you adjusting your velocity?

The Rex Nelson is the adjuster instead on the velocity screw in the back so I don't have to remove the cocking rod

Springs would be the easiest change. Might need to re-sweet spot your inline, or worst case rebuild it.

Those black magics are a pain to rebuild, don't mess your threads up when unscrewing the top.

If you have a gauge, put it on your reg and then set your pressure to about 280psi with your rex dialer set to just a little ways in. Up the pressure over a chrono while shooting until your fps peaks, if it's peaking low, tighten up your dialer a turn or two and do it again until you're satisfied. You'll want to lower your reg back to 250 each time and then go back up to the peak FPS.
Shoot a couple times each time you lower your reg back to 250 to get the excess pressure out of the valve chamber.

Paint and barrel?
Since it hasn't been asked and paint has gotten smaller lately, are you getting rollout? If you are, try a smaller bore.

That could be a bad idea. I don't remember what pressures Ion's work at, but I would be careful that it's up to the job of handling the pressure.
No sense in wrecking one gun just to fix another.

You could always take the gauge off the ion and put it on the cocker.
Either on the reg itself, or where the black plug set screw is on the underside of the front block.
