Spring kit or CCM lower tube kit

I can't seem to get my Sniper shooting above 270fps. I've turned the IVG in very far, and messed with my reg. Just doesn't want to go up.

With that said, would you guys recommend simply replacing the main spring (maddman kit?), or going all out and buying a CCM lower tube kit? I do not have an autococker valve tool, nor have I ever disassembled an autococker that far, but it might be a good time to pick one up and learn. Looking at this sticky, it doesn't seem too bad.

I've also heard that the CCM kit comes with springs that already work great for pumps, so if I got a CCM kit, I would not need to worry about messing around with different springs. Is this true? If so I could save myself a bunch of paint trying out different springs, so it would be worth the money.

if you get the ccm lower tube kit you need a valve tool to remove your old valve and install theirs (and their valve spring). just buy one, they're 17 bucks.

Yeah, obviously if I go with the CCM lower tube kit I'll have to buy a valve tool as well.

I'm just asking if you guys think I should get a CCM kit, or if I should just get a spring kit and spend some time / paint getting what I have now shooting right. I want to go with whatever will be easier, so if I will still have to mess around with different combination's of springs after installing the CCM kit, then I'll skip that and simply buy a spring kit. but if the CCM kit comes with valve/main springs that will be balanced correctly for a pump marker and all I have to do is install it, I'll go with that.

I guess I should mention that currently I have a Superstock sniper with (as far as I know) stock internals.

Is the paint a good Bore match
IE: you not using really small paint in a 691 barrel or somethig
could be the easy way to chase velocity

Actually I was using a CP 2-peice with a .689 back, but I don't know what bore size the paint I was using was.

Still, in my efforts to get it shooting higher, I had the IVG turned in very far, even if my bore match was severely off, wouldn't it eventually go above 270? When I played semi I always used a .689 no matter what paint I was using, and none of them ever had trouble shooting 280fps.

Sounds like a reg problem to me. Can you put a gauge on it? I've learned that when I need to turn in my IVG that much, my reg is over-pressurizing the marker. Or try a different reg.

CCM internals would be the easiest fix all around, but they aren't cheap

CCM internals wont fix a poorly adjusted/bad reg

have you reset the reg.
Turn it back to 0 (off ) return the IVG to flush.
slowly turn the reg up and see how you go
its funy but you can turn the reg up TO far where it starts to make the gun shoot lower because of the pressure you place on the valve with air forcing you to up the IVG to over come the seal
SO reset reg
Lower IVG
and see how you go

Yeah, I tried different combinations of reg / IVG settings and nothing was getting it above 270.

something doesn't make sense, if it's all stock internals, you should be able to get it up to field speeds. What's the fastest you can get it to shoot? I know some regs are very sensitive, and you can easily miss the sweet spot by 1/4 turn or so. Just sweet spotted a pump with a hyper 2 the other day. the sweetspot was in the middle of 1/2 turn of the reg, it was shooting 250 or so on either end, but within that 1/2 turn, I got it sweetspotted at 280. The only time I had to upgrade stock internals was with a trilogy, the stock valves are built for CO2, and the reg I was using only went up to about 400 or so PSI.

good luck man, eddahenry's quick writeup above should do the trick. .689 might be a tad big (at least for the paint around socal) , and rollouts will make your sweetspotting that much harder. Put a strip of electrical or scotch tape at the end of the barrel if the balls you are using are too small.
