I'd have to agree. I've shot some absolute horrible paint and never had a problem

Yes but when you play in New York In 30 degrees weather it's very very brittle

Last time I played here it was about 38-43 before windchill. Zero problems.

Soft tip bolts are 100% a waste and not needed.
The fact is Bob Long uses his to keep your ball stack straight. Not to be gentle on paint.

If your breaking paint in the cold then lower your pressure and up your dwell. This will lower how hard the air is hitting your paint.

simply dont need one in the luxe

as said, bump dwell up and turn down your fps. 280fps is a big difference from 290's in cold air

What they need to do is make a rubber front grip option. It would be very easy to just replace the reg cover. I'm tired of using athletic tape. The reg grips out are cool but I want something that doesn't add bulk.

^^ What this dude said.

The thing needed on the luxe is a better grip on the reg.

Soft face bolts are imo only a marketing scam.
Markers nowadays, since like 5years back, are so gentle on paint that things like rollback and hard bolt faces are just mumbo jumbo.
Even people claiming that the chopped balls, c'mon guys. If you have eyes, and even with a dead battery, I have not had a single gun of mine chop a single ball. Nor has anybody I have played with either.

Ball breaks are caused by one thing in 99% of the cases, bad paint.
Sure, if the paint is cold it may be more fragile, but saying its the guns problem is a far reach.

And like people stated above, raise the dwell and lower the reg pressure.

soft tip bolt won't stop cold/fragile paint from breaking when being force-fed into the breach by the loader... the biggest issue with playing in the cold is that pressure on the ball stack, and the impact of being pushed into the breach causing the shell to weaken or crack. Newer loaders seem to be much more gentle, and gun makers have made minor changes in the breach and bolts. For example, ramped bolts can help if the stack pressure is high and the "on deck" ball is protruding slightly into the breach. Fragile/cold paint sometimes blows up when fed, sometimes it happens as the ball is shot out of the barrel. I don't think the soft tip bolt helps enough to overcome the other, more significant issues facing cold weather paintball.

The solutions that I've found to work on "good" markers is to increase dwell/lower LPR on poppet markers, turn down the loader (or use one that doesn't feed way too hard/fast), shoot winter paint, chrono down to 270 or so, and slightly overbore. The overboring only helps in that it may allow slightly cracked balls to get further along in the barrel and away from the breach, being less of an issue when they break.

A wise man once told me, "If the Luxe can't shoot it, it can't be shot." That's been my experience. Some paint is just garbage and unusably brittle. Sometimes the Luxe will be able to shoot it, but it's so brittle that it breaks in your hopper and pods when you dive so you still can't play with it.

I've owned a bunch of guns and the none have been better than the Luxe with brittle paint, in fact, I think they were all worse...

I would have to agree 100% with the guy above^
the only times ive ever had chopping issues with my luxe its been due to out of round paint at AA in MN and everyone else was having the same problem only worse

I don't personally own a Luxe (well, YET, anyway) but a good portion of my team runs them and the ONLY time I've ever seen any of them have to clean a chop or barrel break was at Living Legends 5 in Chicago last summer. And EVERYONE was breaking that paint. I even saw PUMPS that couldn't shoot it without breaking it. Never seen them have a problem with anything else.

I dont get some of your logic. Upping your dwell on a luxe wont increase velocity (unless you were under-dwelling for some odd reason). All that will do is help with bolt stick. And i have seen Ultra Evil that couldnt be shot out of a luxe (with pooty updrades) but shot fine out of G6Rs

I have noticed that Luxe owners tend to buy their own bull**** more than other marker owners... only people worse I think are PE owners.

The Luxe certainly is a nice marker, but there is plenty of room for improvement. I agree with the soft face.

^^^

Do you even own a Luxe or are you here to troll?

Luxe owners here generally agree that their Luxe's are very gentle on paint and they see no need for a soft face bolt. Just because you saw some Luxes breaking paint one time, doesn't mean that Luxes generally break paint.

Did you even look in my sig? Or did you just want to be condescending.

Owned a luxe for the last year. And the luxes Ive seen break paint were my personal marker (with full pooty bolt, ft screw in dwell 14), manifold screw 2 in from flush. Rest of my teams setup similar.

Shooting general paint, no problem, but Ultra Evil, 5 star, or Tournament APX was iffy at times, especially in the morning.

Were the G6Rs using the same hopper and barrel, and chrono'd at the same velocity? Not saying you didn't see what you saw, but there are many variables that could affect whether one gun breaks paint and another doesn't...

You said you "agree with the soft face", did the G6Rs you mentioned need to use soft faced bolts too, or where they stock?

A majority of high end guns dont actually make full contact with the ball being shot, it's a majority airflow. Dwell is going to increase the amount of air being released per cycle, which would be why he is claiming it to help with chopping/breaking paint.
