So this is probably an easy fix but I'm not a genius at this.

So I replaced a really old head unit with a new Kenwood one that has AUX input, old one didn't even have that.

I have two cheapo Pioneer 5 1/2 speakers in the front, two cheapo Pioneer 6x9 speakers in the back. Worked fine with old radio, sort of works with new one.

I cut the old connector for the old headunit off, and spliced the new connector to the original harness with the butt connectors again. The receiver works fine at low-medium volumes, but once I put it fairly loud, sound starts to crackle and the receiver shuts off, then turns back on. If I have the volume at a lower level, works fine.

I'm not sure, but I think the front speakers are the only ones crackling at the higher volume, they have 25w RMS according to Amazon, the receiver can't possibly be overpowering the speakers, can it?

it sounds like an impedance issue. but going by how you described you hooked it up. I would uninstall it. get a wiring harness that plugs into the factory harness. solder and heat shrink the connections and put it back in. see if that helps any.

Uh, also I think I blew out my rear left turn signal light twice now, after I installed the receiver. I haven't had time to redo the wiring yet, but will do. I'm not turning it on again until then. Good thing I had two spare bulbs already.

Why would it possibly blow out a turn signal light though, all the wires going to the receiver are only for speakers, power, ground, right? How could a bad wiring job for the stereo blow out a signal light?

I had a friend who had that problem in his. it was a wire behind the headunit grounding out. burnt the wire. I did not see this, it is what I was told. supposively a common problem when installing aftermarket headunits. I have done a ton of them and this was the first time I had ever heard of it, but make sure all unused wires are capped.

You've got a bad connection somewhere. Sounds like your headunit isn't grounded well or something along those lines. If you didn't use a stock harness adapter, you probably have one of the connections wired to a wrong wire. Stock harness wire colors do not always match up to aftermarket radio harness colors. I'd undo the headunit, find wiring diagrams for your harness, then re-install it.

Ok well now I'm lost. I removed the new stereo, and all the wiring that connected to the original harness.

I still get no signal on the rear left side. The bulb is good, it's a dual filament bulb, both are good. The bulb turns on when my headlights are on, which is normal. But it won't signal. This is a brand new bulb. Rear right signal works, front left and right signal works. All fuses are good. Reverse lights and brake lights work.

Not sure if anyone cares, but I checked voltage at where the bulb screws in, I was getting 0 volts rear left, and 2-6v(alternating because turn signal I assume), at rear right.

So I have no idea after that, but I look at the fuses underneath the drivers side, and I realize the signal sound is coming from down there. So I start looking at the relays, and I press this big *** one and presto, signal works again. I think the relay was just loose. If it does it again, I'll get a new relay, apparently it is the flasher module after some googling. I think this happening at the same time as the radio install was just coincidence. The radio also seems to be able to get a tad louder, but still crackles at high volume in front, I'll probably rewire it soon.

Thanks for the assistance.

Probably, but you'd be better off with a pair of D3400 or bigger XS Power batts.

Since my honda was wrecked i should be soon acquiring an ext cab truck. A mild build will follow. Probably some 8's and decent components. 1Krms sub stage. Nothing major.
