What do people at you field shoot? I'm not saying you should buy what ever they are shooting, but they might have guns that are similar that you could try.

Well everyone at my field generally uses rentals, ions, or really inexpensive azodins... mostly cuz paint is so expensive. The rare few who have anything better (like an axe) are too overprotective and dont let me try it out...
I currently own an a5, but i dont want to spend lots of money on upgrades so i want an electronic gun for sure.

IMO, if you have <$500 to spend on a marker, I would get either a Planet Eclipse Etha or Etek4. They're both reliable and great performance markers that can be had new in your price range. Not that there is anything wrong with the eXTCy, just not the choice I would make in your position. Its also likely a local shop will have one you can hold before you buy. Use the shop finder on the forum to see what's nearby.
But like what has been said. No one on here can tell you what you want. Pick what seems right to you. You'll notice I didn't say axe or mini but that may be perfect for what you need and they are great guns. Just feel weird to me.

The DMs are quite possibly the smoothest shootings guns out right now.
And don't buy new honestly... You will just cut the value down by hundreds of dollars the minute you shoot it.
With your price range of 500, you can get a dm12. Lighter and a lot nicer IMO than the dm13.
If you like a smooth , quiet shooting gun, get the dm12.
If you want to be black beard and shoot cannons , get a ego / etek.
Good luck.

Best option for you. I only buy used. It's like buying a new car.... Rarely does anyone do that....

I'd look into an 08-09 Ego and spend the rest of your budget on other gear or play time. Egos are great guns for beginners because they have high build quality and really require very little maintenance. Put some eclipse him oil in the asa, cycle the gun; good to go.

If you're new and not maintenence savay your best bet would be a poppit marker. An early ego or bob long marker would be a great starter.

If you want to buy new go with an Axe, if you do buy used buy from someone reputable with plenty of feedback.

Ego 8's are great and can easily be had in your price range. In fact, I have one in your price range which is in great working order. Feel free to PM me if you have any interest.
Ego's in general are easy to care for, though that isn't to imply that matrices aren't. There isn't a lot more to do, but the marker takes a little more tuning to shoot nice. Still, for a first electro, the simpler the better. Good luck!

I'm not an expert with electros. Only one I own is a DM6, but you should factor in that spool valves (DM) are quite a bit more difficult to troubleshoot than poppit valves. If you're not particularly interested in learning about how your gun works and just want to play with it, I would suggest getting a poppit valve gun, especially since you're buying used. Coming from an A5, any of the options mentioned will be plenty smooth.

I 2nd this.
You want the flashy, a little more top-notch gun, a used DM 9-12 can't be beat for their going prices right now.
You want the grinder, Mr. Reliable & low maintenance, check out an Etek 3-4 or an older Ego.
