Brian, Cyndie and the Dels Crew did a great job considering the odds against them.
Pros:
1) BYOP
2) Tented VIP Area
3) OK Reffing on 2 out of the 3 feilds
Cons:
1) Swamp Land in the VIP Area (Hence the Pallet Stealing)
2) Losing a shoe during a run through on the X-Ball Field.
3) Not enough fruit and wheren't there supposed to be sandwiches for the VIP Players.
4) When you're a back man dropping 7/8 Pods 2700psi is not going to cut it. (Not there fault the air line blew overnight and they were doing there best to keep that and filling to 4000psi inside)
Still better than playing in a snow storm.

E-JAM is a sponsor of the GPL. We are a sponsor for one reason, Cyndi, Brian and their staff host the premier series in the north east. You would be hard pressed to plan more bad news than they had this weekend. Despite all the obstacles, they pulled off the event and made it through.
I for one, am amazed at that. It takes some serious conviction and drive to make it through all of hte hardships that were faced. For each player or team that had a problem, Cyndi and Brian faced 600 or more. We shoudl all thank them for actaully making this work, despite the complications.

IMO,
The event running and reffing for the most part was great - could not ask for much more. GPL - Good Job.
The facility quality and condition were not so good - No Air. Swamp. Netting Not Tied. No Working Chrono in Chrono Area for long parts of the day.
Its all good. It was fun on 1 out of the 2 days.

yea the 7 man was BYOP BUT, you could buy paint from the event at a discounted price. More discounted than the 3 and 5 man divisions who had to shoot field paint. I think this is right, correct me if im wrong.
|
Yes thats what i heard that it was discounted more. But i was just wondering the price per case with the actually discount from the 3 man and 5 man teams??? On there site it says they were offering paint to 7 man teams at a discounted rate. Even know it was BYOP.

The score between the top 4 and top 8 werent even close. The difference between the 4th seed after prelims and the 5th was almost 80 points. Its not as if it was a matter of a few points. Yes it wasnt announced prior that only top 4 would go on, but if you really think about it, they had no choice. The fact that they gave you free vip and 5 cases of paint (which they didnt have to do) shows that they werent trying to screw any teams over, it just couldnt be helped. As for reffing, there were some bad calls but its paintball, bad calls happen. The refs did the best they could with the situation and i think all in all it was a good event considering the circumstances.

they did do good to fix the situation, but still some teams had absolutely no byes and some had 3 or 4. the ones that had 3 and 4 also were the ones in the top spots. we lost only 1 game all day and we got 6th. they also had our scores posted wrong all day on the board beacause the way it should have worked out according to that we should have tied for 4th, not that it really made too much a difference. the reffing on the raven field was horrible but we did get a bad call that lost us the game overturned by the ultimate ref so i cant complain too much. hopefully they will just fix the little things they did wrong for next time.

ok well i dont know who did or didnt get bys i do know we didnt get a single by, still made it into top 4 and took 2nd overall. So you cant say that the teams that got bys made it into top 4, because i know both us and ECE didnt get one.

can i ask a favor?
we all know how the event ran, we all understand that the rain was to control of the situation which made a domino effect of the rest of the weekend. as for the buys, well, that is unavoidable. when a team leaves half way through the day, there is no option than to give buys for the remaining teams.
but - it is now Thursday, April 13 - 4 days after the event, it happened, lets put this thread to rest and say goodbye to event 1 and hello to event 2. no sense on crying over what happened. if it was such a big deal, then email the staff and let them know so that they can change it for the next event. i know that the staff is busy getting ready for the next event, we should all too. as the website says only 30 days away
