They've done this since the 2.1's and normal geo3s. Costs cost from having two different cases versus one.

That case design looks like its made to hold both markers. It has cuts for the ego and the Geo. Another way to save time and money..

Those must have just been the leftover CSL cases. Normal Ego 11 wouldn't fit such a sharp cut behind the bolt pin.
