It's okay...same ol same ol..had a tourney recently to support the Guam All Stars on their tourney at World Cup Asia. They are currently ranked 2nd in the series so if they do well they can take the series title.

Some new players, mostly from Air Force and Navy, some new pump players as well, but it's not as big as it was before. Sometimes I'm tempted to call it quits but I think I'm an addict to this crazy hobby.

Only one real field on island and it's pretty much only speedball with ramping or semi depending on the group of players. Tourney or league format is based of the Paintball Asian League Series which is a mix of PSP and Millennium race to format.

Paint varies. Right now the field has been bringing in DXS low end brands. Heard that they will also be getting some Dye paint as well. Paint ranges between $60-70 a case. Field fee and all day air is only $10.00

There may be a field on the air force base but it's so small and from what I hear no one goes there so it could be closed already.

No woodsball/scenario fields but I'm sure there are some outlaw or backyard games happening around the island.

We're on Guam....shipping costs alone can be high so of course the paint costs that much. If you did not know, normally it's a minimum of 1 crate of paint from suppliers so shipping is expensive. Plus the field is field paint only so the cheap $40 case at Kmart won't be allowed. Besides a $10 field fee with all day compressed air isn't so bad.

Handful of teams. They usually only come out if there's a tourney or league going on. Not much players, there are the usual 10-20 players that come a lot and then once in a while they'll be a private group or someone casual rec player. Paintball out here has gone down a bit. There used to be a league of 40 teams..8 years ago. Now a tourney may have as little as 5 teams sign-up.

Like my post earlier the format out here is based on the Paintball Asian League Series so it's a combination of PSP/Millennium rules with a race to format. Normally the ROF for tourneys is PSP ramping 12.5pbs. We did have a mech 3 man tourney recently as well in addition to a Xball race to 3 format.

You'll probably be the first Axe Pro out here. It's mainly Proto/Dye and Eclipse out here with some old Angels, Shockers, Ions, etc. that pop up every once in a while.

Yea the field I've been mentioning Xsports offers rentals. Just the basic Tippy 98s with cheap mask and chest protectors. Not sure about the price.

My buddy is a firefighter in Guam and has been trying to convince me to come out that way with the family. Would you guys recommend doing a couple year stay out there? Still debating on applying on the next available opening.
Thanks

Seth

It depends on what you and your family is looking for and open to for a duty station. Guam has it's pro's and con's. Since it's a US territory language and currency won't be an issue. Price wise Guam is not as cheap as most states yet has very little taxes and has a GRT instead of a sales tax so I've found some prices almost the same as some upper middle class areas in the US once you include the sales tax. The island is only 30 miles long so it's smaller than most areas your probably used to. If your not used to a more hot and humid environment that might be factor as Guam is tropical all year long and is normally in the high 80s but can hit the 90s on sunny dry days or very humid days. If you enjoy outdoor events Guam has excellent beaches, fishing, scuba diving, and deer and wild pig hunting, as well as other out door activities. All types of restaurants can be found on Guam with various cuisines from around the world including the more common franchises you can find in the US mainland. Like the states there are waterparks, theaters, an underwater walk through aquarium, a legal drag strip, and other forms of entertainment including a night life if that's your thing.

Paintball wise, Guam is limited to just one field and it's pretty much just xball. No major tourneys and the community is quite small compared to say 5-8 years ago unfortunately. If you have any specific questions feel free to PM me.

Thanks, I appreciate the input. We are used to some high heats (120's) and some humidity. My wife and I have never lived anywhere else but we do enjoy all the outdoor activities you mentioned. Paintball wise we have 1 field here and a ****ty wooded area to play. I prefer speedball and play pump 99% of the time. It sounds like an awesome adventure. I hope things work out and we can head out there in the next year if positions become available. Having a drag strip would make me want to finagle a way for my nova to make the trip.

Thanks again

Seth
