It depends. Because BYOP is awesome since you can get good cheap paint. But then FPO makes it more even. Itd be better for FPO to be cheap

how about this - try to run an FPO event, then try and run a BYOP event.
Now.. try and make a living doing one of these - and tell me which one you pick.
FPO is pretty much the only way even promoters make money
after staffing an events, giving out prizes, hand outs (throw outs) and promoting the event... entry alone hardly covers it

one thing is cost and how much a team has at their disposal. a team that has been together for awhile may have discounts with companies and get tournament grade high end stuff while a team that was put together gets paint at full price at a shop or even at Walmart.

now IMO, if the tournament IS a local tournament like NCPS, CEPL, or whatever, FPO is the way to go as entry fee is lower. it also keeps the playing level fair for those put together teams as the paint is the same from the other side.

big tournaments like PSP, USPL, etc should be BYOB as almost all teams have some sort of sponsorship with paint companies or stores. hell, when entry fees are over two grand, you can bring whatever paint you want.

PSP is not BYOP. You must use paint from a league sponsoring paint company.

yup! but that brings up another thing... local events that are FPO can get sponsored by paint companies to give their customers a good price and good paint.
NCPS now has paint as low as $35 a case... pretty much UNHEARD of for FPO pricing.

BYOP, tourneys got limited prices. if FPO tourneys, they got good turn around for prices...

having played both local tournaments that offer FPO & BYOP, I have to say the FPO prizes are a whole lot better then the BYOP prizes!
