Planning on playing paintball in college

Along with my list of really nice schools i wish to apply for next year, I stumbled apon a few different colleges that play paintball in the NCPAs and have very nice paintball clubs.

Some examples are pennstate, uconn, northeastern etc.

I was wondering if you guys could give me a average price cost of a season of playing college paintball, tournament and rec. Also, could some of you inform me of what kind of sponsorships the colleges provide for the paintball clubs? (If you guys can get me specifics on the 3 colleges up there, i'd be so happy!)

Where i live, paintball is extremely expensive (65-90$ a case, 25$ entry so if you attend any of those colleges tell me your paintball life.

Thanks!

note: i am NOT basing my college decisions on paintball.

Are you deciding on which college to go to based on paintball prices?

Im not retarded enough to base a college decision on paintball.. All of those colleges have either met my requirements or have a great engineering program.

I just want some info.. like Which fields the clubs play on.

Well I just finished up my first year with the UConn Paintball team, so I can give you a little bit of info:

First of all, we play in the Class A division of teams which plays the x-ball format. As far as cost goes, we have mandatory semesterly dues that every player has to turn in. This year that ended up being around $300ish per player for both semesters combined. We have weekly practices on Sunday and somtimes on Friday/Saturday if it's a couple weeks before an event. Before Nationals we played at least twice a week. Also, we practice at Matt's Outback Paintball in Coventry, CT which is roughly fifteen minutes away from campus. I can't really tell you if this is how all NCPA teams do things, but I hope that helped answer some of your questions.

for NU its $300 dues for the year, plus weekly to bi-weekly practices that range from 40-60$ depending on where we play. We shoot about 8-10 cases a match on average (this year was lower than the last 2).

Go to ub, solid engineering programs and you'll save a bott load since its a state school. As for paintball, practices are only about 40 bucks every other weekend. For tournaments we usually only have to cover food and gas out of pocket.

Thanks everyone whos giving me this info.

As much as i love paintball, i dont want to drown my self in getting a job to pay for it.

Atleast it wont be as costly as it is now.. 100-115$ per day is getting a bit ridiculous

Purdue has one of the best engineering schools in the country/world and prices are around $30-50 a month for dues (if you are on the tournament team) which are used to pay towards entry/paint/housing for events. But you can work those dues off at the local field. For example, you can work a day/ref a day and you would have paid off those dues for that month.

otherwise its $35 a case for a practice.

The club def makes sure its affordable for college students.

When I played I only spent money for paint at practices and then some travel cost for getting to places aka gas. We get most of our support from our local field. So if you devote some time like a day out of a month to help out the field then you more or less just have to pay for practice/food/travel expenses.

Liberty has 2 XBall fields on campus that we practice on twice a week. Although, we do not have that great of an engineering program. If you have any other questions feel free to PM me

If your not playing tournament than really if you are in the club you still get $35 a case for the field. And you can still play with the tournament team even if you just practice/rec ball play it.

Yeah when I started out I wasn't good either, but I just played with the team and got to know the guys so it was fun. Not to mention Companies and what not come to our campus to recruit students. I would actually suggest COOP for engineering to do school one semester and work another semester. I did physics so I am kinda closely related to engineering in someway LOL.

But should def check out Purdue's Engineering Program. I think Purdue is ranked #2 in engineering in terms of companies/corporations hiring students from the school after graduation. here is the link

As long as your looking at Purdue you should check out the University of Michigan great engineering programs as well.

West Point is the #2 civil engineering liberal arts school and is at least top 5 for mechanical and electrical as well. Unfortunately, its demands are very high and has a very rough admission process. We have our own X-Ball field at the school and practice every other day after classes and on weekends. Two years ago we finally recognized as a competitive club at the academy.

Paint, travel expense, housing, food is all paid for... personal gear is on you. We compete with UConn and Northeastern in the NEIC (Class A Div).

I guess the biggest drawback is your service requirement following your four years at the school. DEFINITELY don't base your decision to come here entirely on paintball

Otherwise, if you have any questions check out the team site at armypaintball.com.

http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandre...erall-rankings

Good luck with your decision.

Go to UConn. If you can afford tuition, you can afford paintwarz!!!

Like they said, $300 in dues and you're good to go.
