Gear bag for traveling

I have almost narrowed it down to the new gear bag I would like. Looking at an hk army or sly pro merc. Looking to hold 2 full setups plus soft goods and my playing clothes. Any opinions on these two bags?

Thanks

I haven't looked too close at the Sly Pro Merc bag, so I may be a bit biased. But I did look at the HK army one, and it has plenty of room, and a lot of little storage compartments to help keep tools and other misc. items organized. I would definitely choose it over any others at the moment.

If you have a Costco membership, they have some nice bags for $50 that have a similar setup like the HK army and Sly bags. That's what I got, and I love it. I especially like that it has a plastic bottom, which is where I put my marker, so I know it has some extra protection. Link is below.

if you want to have a lot of room and dont care if its a paintball specific bag, i went to dunhams sporting goods and bought a hockey bag for 20 bucks. the thing is huge and fits all my stuff in it plus more. any sporting goods store should have something like this. really cheap and i dont regret it at all

Define traveling. As it taking your gear from home to the field and back? As in using it for local tournaments and big games? Or as in flying around the country? The cheap bags are great for the first two, but if you are doing the third, you want something sturdy and can lock. But do make sure that you know about the airline that you are flying with, and the TSA regulations.

If you are flying around the country make sure that the bag has two zippers on each zipper, if you know what I mean, so you can put a pad lock or something on them so people can't get in there and steal your stuff. Obviously don't take markers or tanks on the plane, you will get in serious trouble. Mail them to the hotel you will be staying at first. Hotels do that all the time and will love to help you.

Why is that obvious? TSA requires that regs and valves be removed from tanks, and that markers can't be in carry on luggage. So I fail to see how that is obvious?

How obvious it is depends on how long one has been playing, and if they have ever traveled with paintball equipment before. But logically, taking a pressurized tank, and anything that can fire a projectile should be considered fairly obvious to not take as a carry-on on an aircraft...especially given the strict and high levels of airport security.

I was wrong, I retract my earlier statement.
Things have changed, years ago you weren't able to bring paintball markers or tanks on the plane.

another thing you can do is mail your marker to where you are going or a near by friends or relitives house

I have traveled on planes, with gear, quite a few times. I still fail to see how this is obvious, since I have checked my gear bag, with anywhere between two and three markers in it, every time, and the only reason that you can't take a pressurized tank onto an airplane is because TSA wants to be able to look inside of it and make sure that there isn't anything in it that could be hazardous to a plane during a flight. Not because a pressurized bottle is hazardous, since the air pressure in a plane is less than what it is here on the ground, even if it is in a pressurized passenger compartment.

I travel to all most all of the PSP events , and never had a problem not 1x.
I had 2 PE gear bags i kept all my PB stuff in it Guns N2( reg off) and everything else with air tran and south west and not 1 problem , i carried on the plane my Meds , labtop , and other personal stuff in a back pack .
Now i know there is an airline forget which one that will not allow you to have your N2 in your gearbag even with the reg off..
Hope this helps ..
