well its not just that dirtybirdy, its when you eat and what type of carbs that is important too.
I always go protein>carbs>fat (not always fat and carbs in the same meal though, some carbs will spike insulin levels and if you eat fat with them, more fat storage will occur) for my meals. I always pick between chicken, beef or fish to get my protein from, but egg whites are good too and there are others. Then i pick between low GI carbs to get my carbs from (like yams and ezekial bread are low GI), except post w/o, thats a high GI carb like a maltodextrin/dextrose. breakfast, postworkout and the meal after the postworkout shake imo are the most important carb meals of the day (but many people argue a good preworkout meal is important too). The reason some people dont count protein from like grains or whatever is because its said to be incomplete amino wise. im not sure if i needed to type all that, the last sentence probably answered your question, but i did anyways.
